It always starts with one of those impossible ideas.
Clara Oswen Oswald had one of her ideas, her impossible ones. This time she was going to need a lot of knowledge. So she set out for the library. When she arrived, she was disappointed to find out that no other libraries in her district had any books on her idea! So she started home, but before she was even out the door she tripped.
"Ugh!" she thought, "Never wear heels in the rain!"
Suddenly, she felt a strong hand pulling her up. When she turned to thank this kind pedestrian she saw no one but a slip of paper hovering in the air. Cautiously, she snatched it! The note read;
Mr. Lindens library lives.
Well she had never heard of this library so she decided to check it out. Oswen wandered the streets for hours until finally she came upon Mr. Lindens Library. Inside shelves were stuffed to the brim with books reached the ceiling! Classical music drifted in the air without seemingly a source and somewhere in the library something was calling to her, pulling her towards it.
"Hi!" smiled Mr. Linden "Welcome to my library."
"omigoshomishomigosh," Thought Oswen! " I have walked into a strange place with a strange ma-"
"Um hello?" interrupted Mr. Linden.
Slowly Oswen came to her senses and asked him about the book she was after.
"Oh! Let me see if we have that!" replied Mr. Linden.
As soon as he disappeared into the dimly lit library, Oswen grabbed the book that was calling to her and took off into the night. She heard him calling to her but did not stop, she thought she might have heard something about danger and crooks or maybe books, but she simply discarded it.
When Oswen got home, she opened the book to find nothing, this book was blank! Oswen spent the rest of the night just staring at the book, willing it to show words! Finally she fell into a deep sleep, the book lying open next to her. That night she had a dream. Vines were everywhere!! Entangling themselves around her, she couldn't breath, think, or even move! If only it was just a dream. When Oswen awoke the vines were still there, strangling her.
"Mr. Lindgregrlll!" she screamed, trying to call for Mr. Linden.
A minute later she lost consciousness.
* * *
When she awoke, the vines were gone and Mr. Linden was sitting next to her. He told her that he had heard her scream and came as fast as he could! When he arrived she was almost dead but he had revived her.
In the weeks that passed, Oswen and Mr. Linden (Matt) studied the book together week after week, but to no avail. The only thing that they discovered was their love for each other. The more they searched for answers, the closer they got. Eventually they forgot all about the book, until that one snowy night in May. In the days leading up to that night, Oswen and Matt traveled the world and even got engaged. When they finally stopped by Matt's library for awhile, Oswen was diagnosed with cancer and given 3 months to live. So when the night came that the book suddenly came back, she had no problem sacrificing herself for Matt.
"Leave me! go, go away. I only have 3 months to live anyway!" Oswen screamed as the book vines had hold of her leg and were slowly making their way to her brain.
"No! I will never leave you!" Howled Matt over the wind. But it was too late, the vines had found her brain and she was dead. It turns out the book fed off of impossible ideas and Oswen had enough to fill it for eternity.
Oswen was gone and all Matt could do was blame himself. She trusted him and he had let her down. His sadness was like a demon eating him from the inside out. All he wanted to do was die. He walked in the rain but didn't feel it, all his senses were dead. He was hospitalized monthly for he was dying of a broken heart. He felt nothing except stone cold sadness, hard as a rock, in his gut. He himself was the daily reminder of that. His only thought was, "I tried to warn her, now it is too late." Sometimes Matt's sadness came through in different forms; passive aggressive behavior, anger, and nightmares. But then, one day he realized he was forgetting Oswen; her voice, her hair, everything. So, for the first time in five years he returned to his library. The shelves stacked to the ceiling were there, and still after all of these years, classical music played. Slowly, he walked over to where the book lay since the night that Oswen had died. He opened it and inside millions upon millions of colors exploded out of the book and all throughout the library. Like fireworks, he watched and when it was all over, he looked down at the book and there it read, Oswen's final secret.
"Goodbye" he said to the book. For he had decided to accept the it, the fact that Oswen was gone. But don't be fooled, for he will never forget the impossible girl, and her impossible ideas.
