We moved in with our grandmother, her name is Diane Lynch. She was nice at first but then everything changed. She was mean and messed up. She didn't do things a grandmother shouldn't do,and she treated us how she shouldn't have. Our grandmother's house was in a small city in Alabama called Marbury, there was not much there was one post office, a restaurant named Patsy's and Mabury high school which was a middle school and a high school combined. Our grandmother's house was a little green house it was falling apart on the inside and outside it wasn't much but it was better than where we were before.... at first. There was cockroaches everywhere when you turned on the light they would scatter everywhere, it was so nasty, my grandmother would stack things on the table so when you ate food would go under things and you barely had enough room to eat. She was a horrible cook so when she wasn't looking we would pass the food to the chair at the end and later that night we would give it to the dog. We had two dogs Susie Cue that was her dog, our dog was Da Vinci our dad always named our dogs after Greek gods. Sometimes our dog would be sleeping in the hallway so she would kick him to move out of the way, that really pissed me off you don't just kick a animal because they are in your way. I went to Pine level Elementary school, my two sisters went to Marbury High school. I didn't have many friends, but I was okay with that I guess you could have called me the "weird kid" maybe I was but that was not my biggest concern. I had two friends at that school, Dera Conelle and Crystal. Dera was my best friend, I went to her birthday party we went bowling at Bama lanes. My three cousins lived down the road from us, Kyra, Kaitlyn, and Mikayla she wasn't really my cousin my uncle married my Aunt Vickie she was Vickie's daughter from another man. My grandmother abused me and my sisters physically and mentally. She would beat us for no reason at all with anything she could get a hold of she would beat us with a cane, metal dog leash, shovel, hoe, stick, metal part of a fly swatter, and what she used mostly was a leather belt it was white and it left welts on your skin. One time she even hit Eileen in the back with a cast iron frying pan. I got it the worst because I was the youngest, I guess it was because I was the most vulnerable. I remember the time I was held back in kindergarten and she told me to go by the bookshelf by the front door and she beat the shit out of me, I remember laying there on the floor crying wondering where the hell was my fucking mother, where was my father. Was I that bad of a kid that she left me? Why didn't she want me? Why isn't she here, why? Why didn't my dad come visit more often? Was his bitch ass wife more important than his kids? We were forced to go to church, Saint Catharines. We were alter bearers. where you go up and hold the candles during mass or the cross. I wasn't catholic but we were made to go anyway. School was my escape from home it was the only place where I felt safe. Whenever we went out some place she acted all nice and fake and phoney, but it was all a act. My dad would visit maybe once a year when something would happen with his crazy wife. One time he came over he said that Tina had hit him in the head with a broom stick his head was bleeding. I don't remember much about my childhood, I had a shitty one so I guess my brain pushed the memories out, maybe that is a good thing. We had a well so we had to very little water. I wasn't allowed to take a shower I had to take a bath or a shower with Diane, all I need to say is I am scared for life, that picture of horror engraved in my mind forever. God bless my soul. I never really got a good nights rest because of two things worrying that cockroaches would crawl in my mouth in my sleep or because Diane would talk on the phone with her friend and smoke a cigarette. The house was a big room basically like a shack, she had a bed but there was so much shit piled up on it she couldn't sleep on it so she slept on the couch. I wanted to die every day was waking nightmare, wondering when the next beating would come living in fear. I went to school one day I was in class and one of the people from the office called me out of class she told me to empty out my locker, I didn't know what was going on I thought I was in trouble or something. i empty my locker and we start walking to the front office she says " You are going to a better place now" I was still confused, I had no idea what was going on. We are walking and about to be at the office doors, I see my sisters and two other women one my height and another woman who was really tall with her hair down. I remember seeing the tall woman an thinking that's my mom right away and a huge smile comes on my face, I ran up to her and hug her an we both start crying, that was the happiest moment of my life I thought.
