As soon as my face hit the pillow, I was out like a light bulb. Sinking into the slipstream of sleep, I was tossed into chaotic dreams of battle, bloodshed, and heartache.
The only thing I distinctly remember is a boy with floppy hair and bright eyes screaming my name. My real name.
I woke up in cold sweat to the sound of my alarm blasting "Heat of the moment" on full volume, and I nearly fell out of bed trying to make it stop.
Once my room is silent again, I breathe in the peace. I stretch and yawn, then drag my sorry butt out of bed. Muscles complaining and eyes refusing to open, I wander tiredly to the far side of my room. Drawing back the drapes and lifting the shutters, I let the blinding light pool in through the window.
Realizing how little time I have left, I throw on some clothes, brush my teeth, and run a comb through my brown hair. Sliming on some chapstick, I dash down the spiral staircase, grab my school bag and lunch sack, kiss my dad's cheek, and sail to the bus stop just as it arrives.
Sitting in my regular seat, I open up my backpack to find a plastic bag with a croissant in it, and a note.
I smile warmly. Today is going to be a good day. I think to myself, and eat my delicious breakfast on my way to prison. Sorry, school. I meant school.
Walking down the hall, I listen to all the buzz around me, marinating happily in the good vibes.
A weird thing someone started at our school: instead of waving, we salute people in the halls. So, staying true to this odd tradition, I salute as people I know pass me by. Some wink to me as if to say 'Saturday', and I wink in return.
At my locker once again, Parker jump starts me, earning a screech and a reflexive kick in the shin.
He gasps, hopping on one leg and laughing. "What the heck Crash?"
I blush furiously. "Sorry, automatic."
He straightens, and shakes his head, still smiling like an idiot. "Naw, its okay. I didn't know you were ticklish." He winks at me, and my face can't decide if it wants to blush, or go pale.
Well, he now knows my only weakness. That would make me pale. But he is also my die-hard crush, and the thought of him tickling me makes my face flush involuntarily.
"If you use that information against me in any way, Parker, I swear to the gods I'll kill you." I give him a disapproving glare, even through my furiously red face.
He holds his hands up in surrender. "I just think its cute."
His bluntness makes me blush deeper, and my hands suddenly seem restless. I fumble over my books while trying to stuff them into my backpack. Suddenly my biology binder abandons me and takes flight, only to clatter loudly to the ground.
I face palm, and hurriedly bend to pick it up, but instead feel Parker's warm hand on my back.
"Here, I got it." He says in my ear. He picks up the binder and puts it into my outstretched hand, making sure that our fingers brush, which sends a warm rush of electricity up my arm.
"Thanks." I stammer, completely embarrassed.
I get lost in his blue eyes, but only for a moment before my logical side reminds me that there is no way he would ever fall in love with me. Even though I have already hopelessly fallen for him.
"Anytime." He smiles like a dork, and waits for me to load the rest of my books. Once I've done so, he sticks out his elbow, and in an overly-dramatic way instructs me to take it so he can escort me to my next class.
I roll my eyes, and take his arm. We set off, skipping stupidly down the school corridor until we finally reach my biology class, laughing and joking, just before the tardy bell rings.
Everyone gives us dead looks of disapproval as we find our seats. Still giggling, I pull out my binder and begin taking notes.
About ten minutes later a rolled up piece of paper lands on my notes, and I quickly unroll it.
Hey.
I look over at Parker, and he pretends to be fully engaged with the notes. The teacher drones on and on, so I quickly write:
Hey.
I toss it back, and wait until it lands on my notes once again.
Are you coming to the musical tonight?
Everyone in the entire school is in love with Parker because not only is he the hottest guy in the school, he is also the lead of the musical, which makes him the most popular as well.
Of course. I can't wait :D
Actually, I could wait. Because the Female lead/love interest is McKinley, and I am not okay with the idea of her kissing Parker, tonight, or any other night.
I have to kiss McKinley.
Yep.
Do you think I should???
Thats up to you, Parker. But if it were me, I'd just stage-kiss. Ya know?
I scoot the note over to him, and the teacher doesn't notice. I feel oddly guilty for passing notes in class, because in my elementary school it was viewed as some sort of un-repentable sin.
Stage kiss sounds good. But everyone keeps pressuring me to kiss her for real. :3
Don't let anyone pressure you into something you don't want to do. Just go with whatever feels right. :)
Have you had your first kiss? :P
That one catches me off guard for sure. I never expected such a question from anyone, especially Parker of all people.
No :( Have you?
Furiously scribbling down everything written on the chalkboard, I barely have time to read Parker's reply:
Yes
Of course he has, what was I expecting?
