If you were a teenage guy who had been invited to one of the "best parties ever" but been told you couldn't go because your family had plans to stay in, what would you do? Well this particular guy decided he didn't want to spend the night "hanging out" with his family.
"Mom! Why do have to stay in with you all? We aren't even doing anything together! Everyone is just doing there own thing." Said Joey Campbell, a 17 year old teenager who lived with his family in Kansas, USA. Joey lives with his Mom, Jane Campbell. His Dad, Shane Campbell and last of all his "annoying" older sister Kelly.
"I don't care. I said that we would stay in tonight and we will! Everyone agreed to this! So you will stay in with us!" Yelled his mom back at him.
"I didn't!" He yelled back, now both were getting quite angry at each other.
"Hey! Stop fighting with each other!" His Dad joined in, trying to break up the fight that he was also sick of hearing.
Not to long ago Joey became one of the "cool" kids when he started playing football for his school and it turned out he was one of the best players on the team. Ever since then he became one of the coolest kids at school, everyone knew him now.
"Why do you even want to go to this party anyway J? It's not even going to be as big as some of the others this year." Said Kelly also joining in to add what she thought about the situation.
Joey was not expecting this question. He knew that it wasn't going to be the biggest party of the year but he didn't care. He knew exactly why he wanted to go and it wasn't even because it would still be a good party or the fact that everyone would get stupid drunk and party the hell out of it or that secrets would be told that no one had ever heard. Or that people would do stupidly hilarious things at the party that would never be forgotten. No the reason Joey wanted to go to the party was that Kimberley Truman would be there. Yes a girl. Joey had had a crush on this girl for a couple of months now, and ever since he became more popular they actually talked, they were friends. Which got Joey's hopes up.
"Not that I care about the size of the party or any of that Joey. But it is a good question, why do you want to go to the party so much?" His mother said glancing from Kelly to Joey as she spoke, looking at him in a curious manner.
"Does it matter? I just...... wanna go okay?" Joey said very unconvincingly, peaking everyone's interest in why he wanted to go.
Joey looked around at everyone who had now circled him in the corner of the kitchen. Right next to the door that lead to the back yard and side of the house that opened out to the street in front of their house. No one was saying anything but they all looked at Joey in a way that did not need words. There looks said something like "Come on Joey, spill." But Joey did not want his family to know about his life any more then they already did which was basically everything but this. No matter how much Joey looked back at them one by one blankly they would not leave him alone. There was no way out of this.
"Because Kim will be there! okay!?" Joey yelled at them annoyed with the fact that he had to justify himself to them.
"Jeez J a girl? Really? Calm down man." Said Kelly looking quite shocked and a little unimpressed with the fact that he wanted to go to a party for a girl instead of the actual party.
"Kelly leave him alone. Joey are you really just going for this..... Kim? Whose Kim? A friend from school?" Said his mother standing up for him.
Kelly walked off into the other room and sat herself down on the couch. Her dad followed knowing that this was not a conversation for him to be involved in (he wasn't very good at this stuff).
"Oh shit uh... It doesn't matter okay! Why would you care anyway? Unless it's moving, taking care of "our money", or spending time with us doing absolutely nothing and saying we are having a great time, when we really aren't because whatever you want to do is BULLSHIT!" Joey yelled back at her in a rage, sick of hearing her bullshit, "like as if she cared".
His mother looked at him, her mouth now gaping open in shock.
"How dare you!? You think that's all i'm here for?" his Mother yelled back, thinking how ignorant and rude what he had said was.
"Just.. I don't know... Just fuck off and leave me alone!" Joey yelled at his Mother in an outbreak of pure rage at her.
His mother's face went from angry to pure shock and a hint of being hurt from what her son had said. Joey pushed pass his mother and to the front room. He angrily grabbed his jacket and spun back around to walk out the back. He quickly moved passed his shocked family before anyone else could say something to him. He got to the back, side door, that went from the kitchen to the backyard which backed onto a forest. He unlocked the locks on the door. Opened the door. Then slammed it shut and ran off, over his back fence and into the dark forest.
"Leave him guys, just let him go out with his friends. He'll be back." said Kelly from the couch. Everyone just split off into other rooms and decided family night was over.
