The Alpha

Chapter 1

        She stolen my heart the moment I laid eyes on her. I knew she felt the same way but our love was cursed from the very beginning. I was a werewolf and she was a vampire. Her name was Elizabeth. An ancient curse made the werewolves and vampires mortal enemies. I wish I could say the same for Elizabeth and I.

        I could not resist striking up a conversation with her. "Hey, you want to go out for some ice-cream?". She paused for a while before resuming to clear her locker. "You do know that we are supposed to kill to each other Derrick. So no I would not like to go out for ice-cream." She rejected me but I could hear her heartbeat -- She was lying to me.

        That night, it was the full moon. I shifted into wolf form before running towards my pack's meeting point. By the time I got there, it was chaos. The Betas were fighting among themselves. I commanded the fighting to stop and ordered them to tell me why they were fighting. Apparently, there is this rumour of another pack coming to Nashville -- another pack of Alphas, coming here to recruit more members to strengthen their leader , Deucalion which is also my uncle. Deucalion had some bad blood with my father , Flynn. Decalion had murdered my mother, Celeste because he felt that she did not deserve to join our pack as an Omega. As a result, my father fought with him and eventually drove Deucalion out of the pack. Deucalion was blind when he left the pack due to my father's scratch, a True Alpha's injury. But due to the heavy injuries that my uncle dealt to my father, he had passed on.

                I addressed the Betas by telling them that the rumour is true and they are coming to recruit werewolves so as to strengthen their leader , Deucalion but there is a catch, after being strengthened, Deucalion will use his power to eliminate the vampires. Some Betas questioned where I got my sources, I answered them by telling them that I had met Deucalion when he requested that I join his pack.

        Although they were recruiting already bitten werewolves, they might create some new-borns but these new-borns are special, at first they will be Betas but through sheer determination, they will emerge as an Alpha that does not have to kill his or her pack for power. These special Alphas are called True Alphas and I was one of them as I had inherited my father's ability.

        I also heard from Deucalion that he has a pair of fusion werewolves. Fusion werewolves have the ability to fuse together to form a werewolf twice as strong. But fusion werewolves have to be twins in order to fuse. This is when I remembered Deucalion's mission -- to destroy the vampires.

        I raced to Elizabeth's house, there was no car parked in the driveway which is a good sign as Elizabeth's family is complete vampire. I knocked on the door and there she was, frowning at me. She turned to close the door but I wedged my foot in. She gasped in exasperation " Fine Derrick what do you want? And make it fast, my parents could be home any minute." I hesitated for a while, thinking of whether she will believe me or not but I explained to her everything.

        Surprisingly, she listened and believed me, she then asked "Why would you help us?". That derailed my train of thoughts. I thought to myself. Why am I helping the vampires? Am I helping the vampires or am I helping Elizabeth? I realized that I wanted to save Elizabeth from my uncle. " I love you." I replied.

        Just then, Elizabeth's parents came home. They knew I was a werewolf and begin to sprint towards me, thinking I might hurt their daughter. They pinned me on the wall and demanded to know why I was there. Just before they decided to rip my throat out, Elizabeth stepped in and explained for me.
