Since BatCat is one of my OTPs, I decided to make this. I saw the ending of the most recent episode of "Gotham" and this popped into my head this morning...
Enjoy!~~Bruce's POV~~
I rushed through the hospital entrance, my heart beating loudly and quickly, and feelings of fear, shock, and worry overwhelming me. "Master Bruce! Wait!" I heard Alfred call out to me. I didn't listen to him. All I could think about was Selina.
I asked her to sneak into Indian Hill to infiltrate Dr. Strange's experiments. Her friend, Bridgit Pike, who had died in a fire, was somehow involved, so she was very interested. And now, as it turns out, Bridgit was resurrected by Strange and had attacked Selina. Detective Gordon told me she managed to escape, but was seriously injured.
Oh, God, what have I done?... I thought to myself. I feel like this is my fault. I see a nurse at the front desk and head straight towards her. "I'm here for a patient. Selina Kyle. Do you know where she is?" I immediately asked. The nurse looked at me in surprise for my eagerness. "Uh, yes, she's right down the hall. Room 23B." she replied. I thanked her and rushed down the hallway with Alfred catching up. Once I reach the room, there's a doctor standing in front. "Excuse me, I--" I say, but the doctor stops me. "Hold on. How do you know the patient?" he asked. "I'm her friend...Bruce Wayne." I tell him. Alfred finally catches up and says, " We're very close friends to Miss Kyle. How is her condition?"
"Ms. Kyle is fine, however, she's....she's in a comatose state. Nothing serious, we think. We believe she could wake up soon. But we're not too sure. She arrived here with bad injuries; cuts, bruises, and a few burns. They weren't severe and lasting, but they were quite bad." the doctor explains.
My heart sank as I listen to him explain Selina's condition. She was in a coma....
I knew what could happen to her. After the doctor finishes speaking, I finally say, "Doctor...m-may I...may I see her?"
"I do not see why not, but..." he looks at Alfred. Alfred closes his eyes and nods. The doctor steps out the way and opens the door for me. "Thank you." I say softly. The door closes quietly and I look into the room. Lying on the hospital bed, looking as if she were sound asleep, was Selina.A lump began to form in my throat and I felt tears sting at my eyes. I'm not going to cry...I'm not going to cry... I think to myself, fighting back the tears. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing and what was happening. I slowly move towards the chair that sat next to Selina's bed and I sat in it, looking right at her. There was a bandage on her cheek and I saw a bruise underneath her bangs. Burns were visible on her arms and I saw a scar underneath her hospital gown. I sighed.
Despite the state she was in what with the injuries and the IV's, hospital gown, and her messy hair, Selina was still absolutely beautiful. She always was. I still remember the moment we first met, when she came to stay at Wayne Manor. When I saw her holding that vase and I began to discuss about it to her, she turned around to face me, and I suddenly had trouble finishing my sentence. She was beautiful, even in her old, worn street clothes. Selina's beautiful, having shaggy curls of honey-brown hair, flawless and fair complexion, and sharp, delicate features. Her eyes were closed, but I could still clearly remember her eyes; wide, sharp, and cat-like with chartreuse-green irises. To me, her eyes were always her best feature.
But Selina wasn't just beautiful on the outside. She was just as beautiful on the inside as well.
And that I loved most. I've know her for quite a while and I've always enjoyed having her around. Actually, whenever Selina was present, it almost felt like the sun coming out on a cloudy day. I always felt like I could be myself around her, open up to her and she would understand and even help me with whatever I had going on. She may be quite rude and tough sometimes, but that was just how she was and I didn't mind. Truth was, that was one of the things I admired about her. Selina was always outgoing and straight-forward about what she thought and how she felt. Plus, she was right most of the time. Selina was clever, I'll admit. She was sharp. She was skilled and sly, which made her a fairly good thief. On the other hand, though, Selina was far different from most criminals. She cared...for people and everything else. She helped when I needed help most. I was wrong before about her...Selina was one of the kindest people I've met.
I continued to gaze at her. You would think from the way I stared at her sometimes that I was acting as if I was trying to solve a puzzle instead of a girl. And I kind of was. Selina was a puzzle. She was odd in ways and intriguing in others and I couldn't help but love that about her. She may have been hard to describe and to figure out, but I knew that Selina was truly wonderful, even if others could not see it, nor understand it. She was the rarest person I've ever met and I did not want to lose her.
