Chapter 1

Prologue

"Mom! I can't come home now . its neither your anniversary nor your birthday.Why do you keep on asking me to come ? tell me, is there some thing i need to know".

"Lia! do not make me repeat myself Lady. Do as you are told. For once be the Lady i raised you to be",Aliana Lexia James, Daughter of the renowned Buisness man,Theodore James, is a beautiful woman with dark  hair dyed blonde and captivating blue eyes.

Frustated with her mom's patronizing tone in the early morning Lia sighed, Marianna James is the beloved trophy wife and high class socialite who never takes no for an answer,maintaining her calm Lia asked, "Mom,couldnt I even ask know why you need me at home"

"I'll tell you when you come here, for now i need you to come here by tommorrow evening. All arrangements have been done. Patrick will pick up from Airport.Now stop throwing tantrums Get ready for your flight.." Knowing her mother, She cannot shake the feeling of anxiety from her. Any thing that involves Her mother never resulted good for Lia. But, Knowing there is no way of escaping she accepted her mother's invitation to the hell she grew up

Shaking her head at the wonderful starting of her day Lia called Jenny ,her boss ,agood natured woman who always cared about Lia.Jenny is the owner of "The cosmos", a Magazine company in California at which Lia works as a photographer.

"Hello kid!"

"Hey Jenny. ..ah.can I ask you a favour"

"Favour huh! Now what is it? "

"My mom wants me to come to new york at once, jen and you know how my mom is! could you please assign steve for tommorrow's assignment and give me a three day leave".

"You know kid, It's the First time you have asked for a leave.How can I deny it.As much as want I to  tell you go enjoy yourself, I know you cant . So, come back soon .we will miss you"

Jenny smiled thinking of Lia. she always thought Lia as her own child and is the one of the few who knew about Lia .

"of course " Lia teased "I know you miss giving me orders so much".That girl Carries her pain with a smile.

"Hey now stop being cheeky and Have a safe flight"

"okay,see you soon"

Ending the call Lia glanced around her room.It is always clean and ordered.Her flat represented the real her whom she always hid behind the bubbly woman with no brains. Only few knows why's and what's abou her and she is going to keep it that way . Lia laughed thinking how men regarded her as dumb-o-blonde and thought they can easily play her when it is highly unlikely.She started a new life in chicago nearly two years ago and so the change,and so the hide and seek with the world she left.

Lia packed her bags thinking she would leave as soon as she dealt with her mother. So, she packed light and  boarded the plane as soon as she arrived at the air port.Making herself comfortable in her seat,she gazed out of the window and preparing herself for the theatrics of her mother which sure can make a sane person go crazy. However, she cannot shake the feeling of dread in her heart.Her Instincts are always good and she believed them which made her more anxious. she cursed her mother for not telling the reason behind her trip.Lia hates being unprepared and now she has two more hours to bear with this unwanted feelings.

As the flight touched down the grounds of new york her anxiety grew more.Collecting her bags,she searched for the familiar face of Patrick,Her dad's chauffer and one of her favourite people in the household.Patrick has been with the James family since she's born, so, for Lia he is more like an uncle than an employee.
