"Where did you go, my little princess?"

Heavy feet slapped haphazardly against the concrete as the shadow grew larger on the walls. The girl tucked her knees into her chest and squeezed further into the gap between the moulding wall and the dumpster. Her nails dug into the flesh in her cheeks but she did not notice; her hand remained clamped onto her mouth like a bear trap.

"Oh come on sweetheart, you won't leave me waiting so long now will you? We need to get home darling!" The deep voice echoed against the slick walls, a sick sweetness disguising the malice beneath it.

"You wouldn't like me when I'm angry, you know."

The scraping of metal and a rhythmic thumping against the concrete continued too close for comfort. Tears streamed down her face, but the girl would not dare make a noise.

This was the end, after all.
