It was a sunny day in Cloudsdale, and a newly married couple had just moved into a small apartment made of cloud. Mr.Whooves and Mrs.Whooves were both sitting about merrily, sometimes yelling at the movers to go faster, or be to be careful with the items.
Another fact about Mr.Whooves and Mrs.Whooves were that before the marriage, Mrs.Whooves had gotten pregnant, and the baby was due soon. "So," Said Mr.Whooves, smiling brightly. "The baby should be coming any day now." He sat down on a cardboard box, his dark grey flank loudly smacking it.
"Be careful!" Mrs.Whooves said, stroking her blond hair with her pale white hooves. "The baby cannot handle that much sound. I can feel her kicking."
"Maybe that means she likes it," Mr.Whooves said jokingly. "I do have some Earth Pony on my side. It explained my brown mane, that's for sure. Maybe she's got some apple bucker in her. We need more power and strength in them weather factories."
"Well obviously we wouldn't know what it's called." She said. "We just moved here from Canterlot, and you came from the.... whatever it's called land. Anyways- ah! The baby is coming!" And with that the couple rushed to the hospital, unaware that what was to happen next would end their marriage eventually.

It was just after the birthing, and the baby had not opened it's eyes yet. The docters left to take examinations, leaving Mr. and Mrs. Whooves to themselves. "Honey, it still hurts.." Mrs.Whooves said, with a weakened tone.
"Don't worry, maybe you just have to wait a while," He smiled nervously. "It's perfectly normal."
Mrs.Whooves looked at him, with a tear in her light blue eye. "I saw her, the baby. Something is wrong, I just know it! She wasn't crying! And she wasn't opening her eyes."
And then the doctor came in. And then he calmly said, "Your daughter has amblyopia."
"What's that?" Mr.Whooves said.
"It has to do with the eyes. You'll see. But know that it only means one eye sees blurry and the other sees normal." And then the baby came in. "What will you name her?" He handed the baby to Mrs.Whooves, who looked at the baby with disgust.
Mrs.Whooves looked at the baby, examining it. It was a girl, wrapped in a nice blanket. She had grey fur, and a blonde mane that almost was the exact color of her own hair. But she did not care about these feautures, for her wall eyed stare was enough to make the mother hate her. She knew the perfect name to call her. "Derpy."
