This is just a short story that i had to write for school, it had to have a biblical theme and this is what I came up with.

I apologize if there is any spelling mistakes, spelling has never been my strong point.

-----------------------------------------------

Daddy was gone. He left mommy and I all alone. When he left to find work, he promised that he would come back for us. But he didn’t. He left us forever. He has gone to a place from which he can never return. He died.

“Alice, sweetheart. We are here.” Mommy's voice interrupted my thoughts. We were standing in front of a big red and brown building, that was to be my new school. We have never really been able to afford school before, but some people who were with daddy before he died said that they would give us money every month for school.

While we were there we spoke to a few people with big smiles plastered across their faces, speaking welcoming words and saying how happy they were that I were to join them.

They were lying. They knew where I was from, that I came from the street. They didn't want someone like me in their school. I knew that is what they were really thinking. They were just hiding it all behind their fake smiles.

After that, mommy took me to Grandma and Grandpa. She said that she had found work somewhere else far away, so I would have to live with my Grandparents. So now mommy was also leaving me.

The next day I had to say goodbye to mommy.

“Bye bye, Sweetheart. I'll be back soon.” She said kissing me on the forehead. Then she was gone. Just like daddy. But what if she dies? Grandma and Grandpa are old and won't be able to look after me for long. I will be completely alone then.

'Why an I even alive?'

The next Monday it was time for me to go the place where children are dumped just so that they are out of the way. School.

“Don't worry dear, I'm sure you'll make lots of friends.” Grandma tried to reassure me. But seeing that the look of fear and distrust on my face had not changed as I turned to wait at the bus stop. She sighed and closed the door, going back into the house.

'Why am I here?'

The days went by in a blur. Other kids came to talk to me but soon gave up when I showed no interest. The teachers smile's became strained as they realized how unproductive I was in class. After a while I was labelled “the problem child”.

By the second month I started hurting myself. Sometimes my shoulder-blades would itch so much, I would scratch until I felt the blood on my finger tips. Or I would chew the inside of my cheeks until I could taste the blood in my mouth.

By the third month I had to wear long sleeved shirts and jackets so that people would not notice the cuts on my arms and the scratch marks on my back. I started taking up to four pain pills for a single head ache.

'I would have been better off dead.'

I was sitting under a tree, during my fourth month of school, staring at my lunch. I was hardly ever hungry nowadays. I heard a voice with a strange accent from behind me.

“Hello there! You're Alice, right?” Turning around I found the voice to belong to a young Asian boy. I just nodded my head.

“I saw you sitting out here all alone and I thought I would join you.” He smiled brightly. I smiled back half-heartidly. “My name is Sayo.” He said.

We sat and until the end of break, him talking and me listening. He came to sit with me every day, even if we only sat in silence. He invited me to meet his friends outside of school a few times, but I never had the courage.

One day I got news that mommy met someone and that she was going to marry him. I couldn't take it any more, everyone was going to leave me. Grandma and Grandpa would leave and even Sayo would leave as soon as he became tired of me.

'I don't want this!'

'I don't want to feel this pain any more'

The cuts became deeper and the pills became more. I was so tired of it all, I just wanted it to end.

It was on a Saturday afternoon that I was standing next to the road, just waiting for the right time. After a while I could see a big truck coming down the road. Just when the truck was close enough, so that I knew it would not be able to stop, I started waling in front of it. But someone grabbed my arm and pulled me back. As the truck passed, hooting, I turned around to see Sayo. He was panting, as if he had been running.

“What do you think you're doing?” He demanded. He seemed...afraid? I just stared at him in silence.

“Will you please come away from the side of the road?” he pleaded. I looked down and stepped onto the pavement.

“What were you doing?” he asked again, looking at me with concern in his voice.

“I'm tired” I mumbled softly.

“What?”

“I don't want to be alone!” I yelled as I started crying. “So I'm going to leave before everyone leaves me!”

“But you are not alone.” He said reassuringly, griping my shoulders and looking me in the eyes. “You have your grandparents and me” He smiled and said “But there is someone who will never leave your side, he will be with you through thick and thin.”

After that Sayo took me home. But I couldn’t help but wonder who was this person Sayo spoke about and would he want to be friends with someone like me?

When I saw Sayo at school the next Monday I asked hem. He just smiled and told me, “I think it is time a told you about someone named Jesus Christ.”
