~Two weeks later~

Charles isn’t going to leave.  I was extremely worried about that.  He has been talking with my family for almost two hours.  What could they be talking about that takes that long?  Whatever, I don’t want to know.  I was already a nervous wreak.  Seeing Charles nearly killed me.  The door to the study opened and they came out, their faces not revealing anything.  Charles saw me and walked over to me, “Rose, you are supposed to be upstairs resting,” he led me upstairs and made sure I was sleeping before he left, men.

~That night~

My mother set a bag on my bed and waited for me to look up.  I eyed the bag then my mom, “yeah, so?  It’s a bag with something obviously in it,” she put her hands on her hips.

“Rose, there is a new dress in there; we are going out to dinner.  Please hurry up and get ready.”  I sighed and struggled trying to stand up.  I took the dress out of the bag and my mom left.  Sure I loved going out to eat, but it was only going to be very awkward with Charles there.  The dress was a medium red; the neck-line was v-cut just below my neck.  When I slipped it on and zipped it up I looked into the mirror.  A perfect fit, the length of the dress went just below my knees.

I quickly put on my make up but still took my time.  A pair of black and white dazzled shoes caught my eye.  I picked up the left shoe and slipped it on my foot.  I got up and grabbed my small black purse and walked out of my room to the steps.  Everyone was at the bottom of the steps.  Charles blew me away in his pin stripped suit.  He smiled and offered his arm, I hooked my arm around his and we went out to the van.  Charles opened the door for me and helped me get in.  He walked to the drivers’ side and got in.

We drove around for about ten minutes before Charles parked the car in front of a glamorous hotel/restaurant.   My jaw dropped and his hand closed my mouth, sending chills down my back.  Everyone got out and Charles came around and opened the door.  He helped me out and our arms hooked again.  The interior was gorgeous, mirrors were everywhere and a chandelier hung from the ceiling.  The only word that could describe me at this exact moment was, speechless. I didn’t even notice that we had gotten to a table and Charles pulled out a chair.  All of us ate in silence for an hour.  The waiter took out plates and the band that was playing stopped.  My curiosity urged me to look around. The whole room had their eyes on our table.  Great, what did we do now?  Charles stood up then knelt down on one knee and reached into and inner pocket in his suit coat.  He popped the small turquoise box open and inside a silver band with a heart shaped diamond rested in its place.  My hands flew to my face and tears began to form.

“I have been waiting to do this for so long, but I had to wait until you turned eighteen,” he cleared his throat.  “Rosemary Marie Stewarts, will you do the honor of becoming my wife?”

Breathe Rose, Breath!  I took my hands away from my face and wiped my eyes, “Charles Kinney, I would love to become your wife!” He grabbed my hand, slipped on the ring, and kissed the ring and my finger tip.

“I will love you forever Rose.”

There were two words that I thought described me a few moments earlier, nervous and scared.  Those two words no longer describe me.  However, there is one word with many synonyms that now describes me.  Happy!  My best choice was marrying Charles.  I built up my strength and walked towards him.  He held me in his arms for a while then cupped my face.

“You are the most beautiful woman I have and will ever love!”  Our eyes locked and his warm soft lips touched mine.  Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kinney.
