Chapter One - Outburst
As a kid I despised going to school. It seemed like I was wasting my precious time when I could have been doing something productive. I would do everything in my power to stay as far away from school as possible.
They say change is the only constant in life and true to that my perspective changed as I grew up. School became an integral part of my life and there was no other place I wanted to be in. If you were to judge me I was every bit popular girl with my dark mane, electric blue eyes and perfect grades; the girl everyone wanted to be seen with.
I was involved in so many activities that I rarely had time for myself, not that I detested that. I was happy with the life I had and there was nothing I wanted to change in myself. Popularity did not feed my desire to excel. After all popularity was for mediocre people and Liana James was far from ordinary.
"Hey, Lee! I love your shoes!", some random girl cooed as I got out of my brother Nox's car, bringing me out of my trance. I flashed her my widest smile and quickly grabbed my little sister's arm. "Come, I'll show you to the office!"
Iris quickly mumbled goodbye to Nox as we made our way to the office crossing the quad right in the middle of the school area. I was accustomed to the stares that I received on a daily basis but Iris was new to this. Now, there was no similarity between us except for our last name. Iris was my polar opposite with her short petite frame and blonde locks. She was pretty much a wallflower. Life as she knew, was about to undergo a drastic change.
"Look who it is!", I was suddenly attacked by my overly excited best friend, Kimberly. After a long bone-crushing hug she quickly moved on to enclose Iris in her arms. "Don't you two look fantastic!", Kimberly said smoothing out her bright pink jumpsuit.
"It's good to see you too, Kim!" I laughed as poor Iris caught her breath. "Well there is no need to go see Mrs. Wilkins. I got here early and fetched both your schedules.", this girl could never stay still.
"Thank You! You saved us from that obnoxious lady." I quickly gave my schedule a do-over. Not bad considering I hadn't hoped to get into all of the AP classes. "Iris, I am going to give you a tour of the school grounds while Lee does her thing. You are not going to believe what I am about to show you!", Iris was ruthlessly dragged away.
"Is that the smartest thing to do?", Nox caught up. It took me a while to realize what he was talking about. "No one better than Kimberly for the job. Relax!", he seemed to be doubtful but let the matter slide.
"Well, I'll see you around!", with that Lennox made his way to his friends. I loved my twin to bits but sometimes he could be pretty dense. I get that my friends were not the smartest people on the planet but he could definitely give them a chance. It was highly unlikely that he would ever try to get to know them but a girl could always hope.
"What is going on in that pretty head of yours?", I felt his arms around me as he whispered in my ears. Even after two years his touch still made me shiver. "You, of course!" I turned and almost immediately his soft lips were on mine as I lost all my composure.
