Hope
They say nobody is perfect
But is that really true
Nobody can say for certain
Except for maybe you
Always hidden behind a curtain
Nobody even knew
The pain she was in
She couldn't even begin
How she got this way
Nobody knew
She would never say
Everyday she looks in the mirror
At her broken smile
Her sharp hips
And bloody lips
Wonders why she isn't perfect
No one else can see her
Not the way she sees herself
You need to do better
She tells herself
Staring at her bony thighs, bitter
But all she sees is a single bite she had today
Attention-seeker they whisper as she walks by
She needs it she craves it
Crying as she whispers goodbye
She has nobody
Everyone left
Taking with them bits of her
Tore her down
Till she was just skin and bone
She used to feel sad
But not anymore
Now she feels nothing
Except for sore
All she desires is to be skinny
All she craves is beauty
All she wants is for someone to help
All she wishes is for it to be over
All she needs is hope.
