When I was 8,my family moved into an old colonial house with a wooden roof and beautiful Windows the house was built in 1810.(You know what the colonial era was right well if you didn't it was when the ladies used to wear big fancy dresses parading around with beautiful jewels and when men used it wear fancy lace white tips with breaches.)Anyway my father still lives there.
Until I was 17 every night before I went to sleep I would feel some sort of pressure next to me as if someone or something was sat on my bed.Like when your mum or dad sit on the edge of your bed telling you a story. This would always be followed with a feeling of increased pressure on the air.Although,I knew this probably didn't happen to everyone honestly I didn't really think about it.
Until I got a dog she was an adorable brown Labrador with eyes that made you fall in love with her instantly. She was a present for my 12th birthday. Each night she would be sleeping soundly then suddenly she would start growling around the room chasing what ever she saw. After about five minuets of that she would give up and lay back on my bed growling as she fell asleep.A little while later the presence would come back.
While this was a really weird happening I didn't really question it.Maybe the dog was just mad. I didn't talk to anyone about my nightly happenings to anyone not even my parents. Although I did call this 'presence' Charlotte for some reason it just felt right. I don't know why I just did.
One day in early summer when I was 13 an elderly man and his daughter pulled up they explained that the man had lived in this very house with his aunt as a boy for a few years. They asked my mum if they could have a tour for old times sake. Of corse my mother said yes being the kind hearted women she is.
My mum and I led them round the house stopping every so often recalling different memories. Afterwards my mum asked them if they ever remembered any strange occurrences or stories about the house. "What like ghosts?" The man chuckled. Suddenly the happy daughter had become very quiet. "It's not funny dad!" She said defensively. The man explained that everyone had slept in one room. My room! His daughter interrupted claiming that she always felt as if someone was sat on the edge of the bed. Her father said they used to joke around saying it was his aunt looking out for them all. Guess what her name was... Charlotte!
