He has showed the world to you - the real world as the man stated.
It's hazardous and destroyed, full of endless destructions and wars. By giving humanity more chances to reset the world, there's no promise of what the future would hold.
"Face it."
You're stunned at the harsh truth at The World's impact on the universe.
"This is the reality."
"...How?" You looked at your trembling hands. "If this is true... then what was there to my effort?"
He stays silent for a while, enough time to kill you with its bitterness.
"There's somewhere else that your power can be useful."
You hesitate as you stare at the young man in front of you, emerald green eyes so firm that they has stunned you in the spot before you realized it.
You gulp nervously and cautiously step forward him with a strong mix of wonderment.
***
The man's name is Natsuhiko Azuma.
He claims that he opposes the 'Reset' because he believes it abuses science and technology. When he tells you this with a calm face, you ponder to yourself why, as a scientist, you've never took notice of the result of your inventions before. You blame it all on your ignorant and your optimism, the naivety that got you to believe all of your actions are to help the future.
You startle awake with a scream struck in your throats and only gasps escape your mouth when you sit up, your warm body covering in sticky sweats. It's the fifth time that experience nightmare. They're always the same. You'd see a stranger - sometimes a group the size of a city - burned alive or shot mercilessly by machine guns.
Blood splattered everywhere, yet no body was left behind. Only brunt gray ashes.
You chew on your bottom lip as a heavy inhale flies softly out of your mouth. A salty teardrop trails down the side of your cheek to touch your dry lips.
"I'm sorry," you sob as you bury your face into your hands, those that has indirectly killed thousands of innocent lives with your inventions.
"I'm sorry."
The echoing sound of clicking heels snap your head to look up, only to see the farmiliar face of the cruel revealer.
You press your dry lips tightly against each other, yet, you can still taste the salty flavor of your dripping tears.
He kneels down and cups your face in his hands, his chilly, emotionless green eyes stare directly at yours - as always. The man has a frown on his face. It's a common knowledge. You rarely see him smile, and when he does, it's mostly when somebody amuses him or after a triumphant victory.
"It's okay," he says softly, gently caressing your cheeks. "You did a well-done job."
"But it's all my fault that they... that they died."
"It is not. Don't waste your time blaming yourself."
You avert your eyes to the floor in silence for a long time, the warmth from the blanket circling around you arms, the soft silk dangling halfway of your waists. Some time like these when you can't bear to gaze at his firm eyes, when you absolutely can't face the truth.
And all you can mutter is,
"I will create a better world, I swear, Azuma-kun."
That is enough to bring a smile to his lips.
He slowly closes the gap between the two of you and gently kisses your lips, tasting the dried salty tears on his tongue.
"You needn't to carry the burden anymore. Let's do it together this time."
It's these words that have brought the two of you closer. Some time in the future you've gotten over your fears and moved on. Although the beasts from the nightmares still seek your scent, he's always there next to you in the cold nights to keep you safe from the monsters.
The bond that you and him share is stronger than ever, perhaps even more than The World.
And with you and him together, it's just the right bit of touch to transform both of your wish to reality.
