Chapter 1:
It's Friday, June 15th, 2017. There is about a week and a half of school left till grad. I am beyond excited, even though my outward emotions don't show it.
My girlfriends and I are planning on going dress shopping tomorrow. We know we are leaving this till last minute, but we don't care as long as there are dresses satisfying enough for our tastes, that are obviously still on hangers, waiting to be picked up by us amazing girls, that will fill them out in all the right places.
It's 1:20pm meaning 4th period is pretty much over. I'm planning on skipping last period, to be with Jody. I mean school is pretty much over, literally so why should it matter?
As I'm I'm thinking this, Jody jogs out of his classroom coming towards me. When he gets in front of me, he lands a nice warm kiss on my forehead. That should tell you, that I'm pretty short, (5 foot 5) but if it doesn't, then I'm guessing that you yourself are probably a midget.
Anyways, whenever I see him, it's like someone just gave me a million bucks, and keys to all the candy shops in the world. I mean what is better than that!"Hey beautiful!" He says, in that deep but still young and playful voice that he always uses. "Hi baby", I respond, giving him a huge, warm hug.
You would think that we haven't seen each other in weeks, just by the way we greet each other sometimes.
Today he's wearing a navy blue, t-shirt with his blue and white adidas pants. His hair is in the style of a Mohawk, and has fawn coloured tips. Because he is black, like me, he can do so much cool stuff with his hair. Sometimes though, if he's at my house early enough, I style his hair for him!Today is Friday and I was so lazy this morning, so I just put on my grey roots tracksuit and adidas slippers and dragged my lazy self to school. Of course my hair was messy, so when I got to school, I quickly pulled my Hawaiian hair (weave) back in a ponytail. As you probably guessed, I love doing my own hair too, but sometimes "ain't nobody got time for that".
"So," he says, "did you miss me?" Of course I say "yes" because not only is our lunch break super early, but, we also don't have any classes together this semester. "Aww, your so cute!" He says, looking down at me with his sharp hazel looking eyes. He's 6 foot 4, so looking at us would be like looking at a pencil, and a crayon put side by side.
"Where do you wanna go?" I ask him. "Anywhere, as long as it's with you," said Jody. " Do you know how cheesy that sounds, you sound like a romantic guy in a hallmark movie close to maybe the very end of the movie."
"Ha, a lie." Only one person I know, sounds like that. Of course, it's one of my best friends.
"Hey kiante," I say, as she jumps up beside me, and starts walking at the same pace that I'm going.
"Hey, long time no see," says Jody. You see, Jody and kiante are cousins. And they are always at each other's houses, so that sounded kind of annoying. I turn to look at kiante, just in time to see her rolling her eyes and grinning up at Jody. " Hey, isn't class gonna start in like 2 minutes," said Kiante. "Yea," I say. "But, we aren't planning on going," says Jody. " Oh yea, so what's the plan then?" Let me guess, Kiante thinks she is gonna tag along with us, humph I am gonna make sure that doesn't happen.
"Oh, we were just gonna chill, on the basketball court, outside!" Says Jody. I punch him in the arm, trying to hint at him that that wasn't a smart move." Oh, cool I'm coming" Kiante says. I sigh, then put a hand on my head, as a sign of purely utterly annoyance. I love Kiante, but sometimes I swear she forgets, that I'm dating her cousin not her!
An hour, after being outside with them, playing basketball. I got bored so I go inside to get a drink, by that time school is over in about 30 minutes. So I decide to spend that time in the washroom talking to my other friends, Clarissa, Nadine, Nicole, Carmen, and Malina. Thank god they all have separate classes, so it's easy for me to get them out. We talk about the usual, boys, clothes, makeup and annoying supply teachers that don't know how to even speak English.
The bell finally rings, I go back outside to retrieve my belongings and Jody and Kiante.
"Yes! It's finally the weekend!" Yells Kiante. I couldn't agree more, being in school is like being locked in a jail cell with more freedom to move, then a real one of course. Really, and truly no one wants to be there, unless their like some next geek or something.
I jog to my locker, so I can grab anything that I may need over the weekend. Unfortunately, Lavisha Temin, the most popular girl in my school's locker is right beside mine. She isn't there yet, so I quickly grab my stuff and head out the door with all the other students, and my boyfriend not far behind, right towards the 21 degree weather outside, that's letting everyone know that the weekend is probably gonna be a nice one.
Jody and I usually take the transit home because we can't exactly drive on our yet. While we are on the bus home, we talk about school, and how we can't believe that we are soon gonna be graduating and going to college. "We are definitely almost there," I say as we reach our stop.
