Lia. Lia is my name. Now, I'm not as proud of it as before. Something really changed my perspective. And that one thing was, the Internet.
Yes, you've heard me right. The Internet. Something we use every day. It's changed my perspective of life. During the time I thought I couldn't live without wifi, I now know I thought wrong, the Internet changed my life from one point forward. Don't worry, I will tell you my story.
It all started on a Wednesday night at my friend, Katie's house. We were surfing the Internet in search to find a fun gaming website. We came across a website called Surfing Days. It looked pretty fun at the time, you could dress up an avatar who lived in Hawaii and you would earn money to buy better surf boards. The part that was most appealing to us was the chat part. We could chat with anyone across the world, and everyone could contact you.
We started to play the game. We chatted in the world chat. Everyone could go talk in there. We then made some friends and added them on a private chat together. That was not a smart move. Katie and I were very happy to see all the different people we talked to online. We felt as if we had another friend group.
I then decided to make my own account. I also made some friends. We would chat until 3:00am some nights. Mom would get mad at me, and my friends thought I pulled an all nighter some nights. I was just thinking about the game. I thought it was so addicting and everyone should play it. That night, November 12th, I went home and started taking to this guy. He sounded innocent and very kind. I asked him his name and he gave me his first and last name. His name is Jacob Slauter. He sounded sweet. I friended him. He friended me. That was the night my life had been changed for good.
