Ash Preston

it was Friday already and i was ecstatic for the weekend, i was originally planning on going to a party but now i thought i'd try and convince Jayla to come over to my place and work on our assignment. i want to get to know her better, i have a feeling she doesn't like me but i don't care, i'll make her like me if it's the last thing i do.

i was sitting out the front of the school entrance, waiting for Luke and Tom to arrive, i had nothing else better to do with my time. i lit a joint and scanned my surroundings, i spotted the school bus slowly making it's way to the front of the school and stopping in front of me. i stood up and waited 'till the boys hopped off the bus.

Luke and Tom made their way off the bus and walked over to me, Tom swung his arm around my shoulder.

"hey buddy" he said in a fruity tone, i smiled at him and continued to walk to my locker.

"you look like shit" Luke spoke in a grating manner, i furrowed my brows at him and rolled my eyes.

"you've been getting on my nerves lately, i suggest you shut the fuck up before i make you" i replied in a taut voice, he looked at me with his eyes widening in surprise of my sudden outburst.

"then make me, mate" he came up very close to my face and grinned.

"you're a real shit friend you know that right?" i spoke in an annoyed tone, i don't know what's up his ass but I've had enough of his shit.

"whatever" he replied and quickly walked away, i stood there confused as to why he suddenly left, he isn't usually this much of a dick. i brushed it off and continued to walk, Tom was still with me but remained silent the rest of the way.

i grabbed the stuff i needed for maths which was just a book and a pen, this was literally all i bring to every class.

nothing exciting happened in maths, i just sat there staring at the clock waiting for it to end. it was pure torture.

i walked out and put my shit in my locker, i shut it and walked over to the courtyard. i saw Luke sitting down on the table with Tom and others that i didn't know or care to know, i decided i would pay him dust and go sit by myself. i walked around trying to find a place to sit, after looking at every possible table, my eyes stopped at one table. a girl sat there all alone, i quickly realized who it was and sat down next to her.

"hey jay" i greeted, she looked up from her phone and made eye contact with me, furrowing her eyebrows.

"jay? that's new" she spoke in a monotonous voice and then proceeded to stare at her phone.

"thought it was cute, do you like it?" i asked, genuinely curious to know.

"not really" she blatantly replied, i nodded in response. there was sudden awkward silence between us and i hated it, awkward silence was the worst, especially with someone you liked but then she spoke up.

"why are you being so nice to me?" she asked, making eye contact with me for the second time. i shuffled in my chair and tried to remain calm and collected.

"because...i think you're cool" i smiled and twiddled my thumbs, she looked down once again and shuffled a bit.

"nobody thinks i'm cool..." she said quietly.

"i'm sure that's not true" i reassured. She frowned and then looked up, not making eye contact with me but i wish she was.

"it is, that's why i have no friends" she responded with a blank expression plastered on her face, it's like she showed no emotion and it made me sad because i knew she was hurting.
