Okay, just some thoughts on Gilgamesh from Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night.
Before anything else, lemme make some complaints.
First of all, GILGAMESH SHOULD BE ANYTHING BUT BLOND. Think about it. While I kind of see that him being blond adds to his "Gold Theme," he was from Mesopotamia.
People had BROWN HAIR. Why is his hair blond?!
Secondly, why is his skin so pale? While he may have been sitting in his palace or whatever for who-knows-how-long, his skin is so pale he may as well have had his blood sucked out by some traveling vampire.
Thirdly, while I get that it looks cool and all, why are his eyes red? Sure, anime, manga, or whatever tends to change eye colors like it's nobody's business (which it kind of isn't), they could have at least kept his eyes a natural color.
Okay, yes, eyes can be red or violet, but as far as I know, you can only have naturally red eyes if you're albino (do correct me if I'm wrong).
Fourth, I'm just gonna put it out there, Mesopotamian armor did not look like that. And why would you get armor made of gold? It's a ridiculously malleable material and, while it will provide some protection, it wouldn't provide much. It would be trash by the second battle, assuming Gilgamesh got hit at all.
Along with the fact that gold is also ridiculously heavy - that much golden armor would easily weigh over one hundred pounds, especially his shoulder pieces. Those things are massive.
This one has nothing to do with him, but rather the animators' choice.
WHY ARE EVERY ONE OF HIS WEAPON PORTALS 3D ANIMATED?
Okay thanks for reading the list of complaints, here are some things I like about him.
His arrogance is accurate. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, he is arrogant and cocky beyond belief, which they added into the series, I also like that he named one of his weapons after Enkidu.
And his looking down upon "other" human beings is still the same and he loves mocking them, along with his ridiculous obsession with power.
[To be honest, I don't find a lot of things about him accurate to the legend or that likeable. Then again a lot of anime and manga tend to do that to myths and such.]
