(Jax)

I drove slow, making the ten minute drive into a twenty-five minute drive.I glanced over at the boy in my passenger seat. His head was against the window and he was lightly snoring, his chest rising then falling at a steady rhythm.

I turned onto Hickory Lane, and pulled up in front of his house. I jumped out and slammed my door, I ran over to the passengers side and slid the sleeping boy out, I pressed him to my chest then closed the door with my hip.

I looked up at the house, It was the tallest house on the street, it had a white paneling and and dark red brick, the flower beds were full of beautiful delicate white flowers and gray stepping stones which looked as if they had children's hands printed into them. I walked up to the door and rang the bell, the sound of beautiful wind chimes echoed throughout the home.

I heard the clicks of someone unlocking the door, it flung open an two small girls around the age of five or six ran out, one chasing after the other.

"You're it!"

"No! You're it!" Both girls giggled, one of them ran to a tree, and held tightly to its trunk.

"Fern, this tree is base!"

"We don't need a base!" The girl in purple screamed back. I heard a small laugh from behind me. I turned around to see a small women standing in the doorway, she had brown hair and bright blue eyes, she was wearing an apron and drying her hands on a kitchen towel.

"I am so sorry about those two little trouble makers." The women said, jokingly, while looking over my shoulder at the two girls running around the yard.

She looked at me holding the boy, then let out sigh, her eyes began to water and she covered her mouth, trying to muffle the noise.

"This is the first time anyone cared to bring him home." The small women said, wiping a tear off of her cheek.

"Oh. I'm sorry." I said, if I was the first to bring him home, then this must be a regular thing that happens to him.

"What's happened to him?" The small women said.

"He fell down a flight of stairs, he's still asleep I doubt he'll be waking up soon." The boy let out a small giggle, an opened his eyes and turned his head to look at the women.

"I'm not asleep you silly, you woke me up when you slammed your door." He said, he giggled and looked over to the women in the doorway.

"Mom? Mommy! This is Jax, he is very nice... Mommy?" He said, he sounded like a child, the two girls in the yard seemed older than him in this moment.

"Yes, Darling?" The women said, looking a bit worried at what he had to say.

"Can we keep him? I promise to feed him." He said. I let out a small laugh, he was delusional.

"No, sweetheart I'm sorry, I do not think Jaxs mother would like for us to keep him. Now please let go of him darling and come inside, I've made dinner." She said, giving him a warm smile. I lowered myself down and then dropped Liam's feet onto the ground and put one of his arms over his mothers shoulder.

"Mom can't he stay with us for dinner?" He said, stumbling a bit back towards me.

"No thank you, I've got to be getting home." I said.

"Too bad dear, next time do please stay. And thank you for bringing Liam home." She said to me, before turning Liam and herself around and then closing the door. I turned and started walking to my truck, I was stopped by two small blonde headed girls, one dressed in purple with two braids and the other in green with her hair in waves cascading down her back.

"Are you our brothers boyfriend?" Asked the little girl in green.

"No he is not Fern!" Said the girl in purple.

"Of course he is Lavender!" The other girl yelled back.

"No, no I'm only an acquaintance of your brothers." I said, at an attempt to stop both girls from continuing their banter.

"See I told you Fern, he's not his boyfriend. But he can be mine!" The one called lavender said.

"He can not!" Said fern.

"Can too!"

"Can not!"

"I'm sorry, but I have to go." I said, moving past the two of them.

"Goodbye!" Both girls screamed in unison, then continued arguing. I waved a goodbye, and got into the seat of my truck, closing the door behind me. I turned on the ignition, then sat there for a second.

'Liam, nice to put a name to a face'
