The day had come, Caleb was coming to visit for the summer. I could hardly contain my excitement! Pastor Paul and I drive to the airport to meet Caleb when he landed. And hour later we were standing at the gate as the passengers disembarked from the plane. There he was, walking out of the tunnel back into my life. There was almost a glow about him, but I was probably seeing things.
"Hi" he said "you look nice"
"Oh, thanks" I replied blushing.
Pastor Paul awkwardly came in and said, "well kids let's head home"

On the car ride home we caught up.
"So what have you been doing lately?" He asked.
"I've been helping at church and working in Poms at my school," I said proudly as I was very proud of my work in those areas.
"Oh cool" he said.
"What have you been up to?" I asked.
"I've been working on my music, my mom keeps trying to get me to come to church" he said rolling his eyes. I was quiet and confused for a moment "why wouldn't he want to go to church?" I thought to myself.
"What do you mean?" I asked him abruptly.
"I'm an atheist"  He answered. Those words echoed in my ears as I tried to process what the heck was going on. Everything had changed.
How could he be an atheist?
