Chapter One ~ The Game

Katelynn sighed and leaned forward, putting her head between her knees. The urges for blood were becoming too much as the days went by. "Should've never made that stupid bet." She grumbled looking back up at the beautiful night sky. "Being a vampire is so hard..."

"You can always give up..." Suggested Aidou, who grinned down at her with fangs exposed.

"Yeah." Kain gave her the same evil grin. Then both of their stomaches growled and the three busted up laughing.

"So I'm not the only one!" She pointed an angry finger at her two friends.

Aidou drapped an arm over her shoulders, pulling her closer to him. The closeness didn't bother her but the possiveness did. She shrugged him off and looked at the trees. "Just give in, love."

"Never." She bared her fangs at him and then let her tongue slid over her lips in a teasing way.

Adiou's eyes glazed over with lust but he shook his head, looking away with a blush. "No fair. Using your powers on me like that."

"She doesn't need to use her powers on you to make you drool like an idiot over her." Kain remarked with a chuckled.

She giggled and then threw her blond hair over her shoulder, exposing her neck. "He has a point Aidou."

"Oh whatever..." His blush grew darker and he stood up. "Break should be ending soon."

"Way to change the subject." She layed out completely on the bench they had been sitting on, resting her head in Kain's lap. "Maybe we should ditch next period..."

"Actually Miss Katelynn." Came a cold voice, that made her wince. "I was just coming over to make sure you made it to your next class."

"Wonderful..." She grumbled, closing her eyes. "And why's that Kaname?"

A shadow blocked out the moon that had been hovering above her, leading her to believe that Kaname was now replacing it's eerie glow. "Because you seem to ditch class a lot."

"Riiight..." She opened one eye to glare up at him, he was indeed looking down at her.

Her breath caught as she took in the sight of him. He was already naturally handsome so she was used to seeing him, but with the full moon behind him like that it made her heat beat a bit faster. She felt herself blush underneath his gaze and looked away from him.

"I'll even walk you to your next class." He leaned away from her and she sat up.

"But we have the same class?"

"Exactly so it isn't going out of my way."

"Okay..." She thought about an escape plan. "But I have to go...To the bathroom first."

"I..." He glared at her as she stood up and began to walk away.

"Wait for me Kaname?" She let her powers work on him, but was dissappointed to find out it didn't do much.

"Of course." She made her way to the farthest bathroom and ducked inside. "Thankfully this is a double door bathroom." She chuckled evilly as she left out the back way, entering a hallway.

"Knew I'd run into you here..." She went rigid at the sound of Kaname's voice.

He was leaning against the far wall across from her, arms crossed.

"Are you stalking me?" She started to back up into the bathrooms door.

"I told you that you would be going to class and I'll make sure you get there." He took a couple of steps towards her.

"Yeah..About that..." Her back bumped against the door and she gulped, he was getting closer.

"Hm?" He was now only inches away and just the sent of him had her head spinning.

"I don't want to..." She again tried to use her powers on him, daring to look in his eyes.

She saw lust there but it wasn't lust that she had created. He pinned her up against the door, his hands tightening around her wrists while his body pressed up against her.

"You really need to stop trying to use that on me." There was a warning in his tone.

She didn't know how to respond. ~There's no way he could really want me...~ She thought, unable to look away from him.

A smart remark was on her lips but was soon lost when his came down on them. She let a small strangled sound escape from her but that only made him press up against her harder. Her fangs bit into his bottom lip, drawing blood. He pulled away and she flinched, expecting anger. Instead she saw him smirking seconds before his mouth was back on hers.

Her thoughts were all over the place and she was stuck wondering about if she wanted this or not. It felt and tasted so good but she wasn't interested in a guy who would just use her. Or was she?

None of it seemed to matter as one thought in particular made her blood run cold. It was the fact that she was, in a way, drinking Kaname's blood. The blood of a true blood vampire was on her tounge, and he didn't seem to care in the least.

Then something else was on her tongue, his tongue had slipped inside her mouth with that cruel smirk still on his face. His hands sliding up her thigh and towards her chest sent shivers through her. She was so dizzy and one by one her thoughts became unimportant, all that mattered was his touch.

Suddenly it was all ripped away from her as she watched Zero, some vampire hunter, shove Kaname off of her. The sight was like a splash of cold water to her and she collasped to the ground.

"Holy shit." Zero held the Bloody Rose gun to Kaname's head, a disgusted look on his face.

"Do your dirty things in private vampire." He said vampire like it was it's own cuss word.

After a few seconds he dropped his aim at Kaname's head and began walking away. Katelynn sprung up and trailed after him, shouting, "Wait!"

He whirled around and glared down at her. "What? Go back to your boyfriend."

"Thank you..." She whispered, looking down at the ground in shame.

"Why?" He had one eyebrow lifted in confusion when she glance up at him.

"He forced himself on me..." Zero didn't really seem to buy that but when tears brimmed in her eyes he had to blink a couple of times. "Just thank you..."

"Anytime..." He catiously reached out and patted her shoulder once, then let his hand fall limply to his side.

He started to walk away again but she reached out to stop him. With hunter like reflexes he turned around and grabbed her wrist, quick to spin her around and pin her back against him. His mouth was directly by her ear when he spoke, his tone cold. "What do you want now?"

"To know your name." ~Total lie.~ She thought, blushing deeply.

"Zero..." His voice lost it's frost and he loosened his grip on her wrist. "Yours?"

"Katelynn." He pushed her away from him, though not harshly.

"You should get back to class." The smile that came across his face seemed to surprise both of them and was quickly gone.

Without even so much as a good bye he turned around and walked off. When Katelynn looked behind her for Kaname she found him gone, the thought comforting to her. "So strange..."
