The eagle circled the confused bear, high in the icy sky. He swooped down and his talons raked the bear's skin, piercing his hide. They bear yowled in anguish and reached up to swipe the deadly eagle. But the eagle was already swooping in and out of the towering pine trees, way out of the bears reach.

The bear began to climb steadily up the closest branch and the eagle went for another vicious bite on the neck. It missed but the bear was now dangling precariously off the branch, the crashing ravine below. The eagle began screeching and pecking at the bear, trying to heave him off. But the bear was much bigger, and did not give in easily. The bear lashed out at the tired eagle and both the eagle and the bear came crashing down to the ground. They tumbled across the grass trying to do some real damage, but both animals were hot and exhausted. The eagle flew up to his nest and the bear rested at the bottom of the tree, waiting for the battle to continue tomorrow, no one ever winning this painful war.

The eagle awoke from his heavy slumber to find the bear waiting for him at the bottom of the tree. He looked horrid. His eyelids sagged and blood and fur mangled together. There was a large wound on his neck from the previous night and his muzzle was bared and sharp teeth revealed. On the ground next to him was a rabbit carcass, and the eagle's stomach growled like a volcano, ready to erupt.

"ROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The bear's fury echoed throughout the forest, determined not to give up. Both the eagle and the bear waited, neither advancing nor backing away. Then in unison, the bear lunged forward and the eagle soared down from the branch aiming for the bear's eyes. The eagle yanked the bear's eye and blood started oozing out. The bear howled in excruciating pain and grabbed the nimble eagle, bringing him to the ground.

That night, the bear stood at the bottom of the tree, his nose covered in blood, his eye just a gaping hole. His neck had been ripped to pieces, as if a giant machine had flattened him with spikes. But nonetheless he was triumphant, for lying next to him was a pile of bones... Eagle bones.
