Brooklyn
7 years later
My brain was banging itself inside my skull as I slowly sat up from the bed, distinguishing the fact that only the white duvet covered my body. Beside me laid a girl sound asleep, her glossy brown hair sprawled all over the pillows effortlessly. I didn't need to look under the covers to know she wasn't wearing anything. She looked beaten down but even in this state, she was still drop dead gorgeous.
Even though I knew little about her, she seemed to be like one of those people who didn't freak out if they were left by themselves after a steamy night like that. That's what drew me to her. I had a fair share of both genders, really. I can't help it, both are just equally amazing.
I slowly ascended from my bed, butt naked and tried to find my clothes under the pile of clothing in the corner of the room. Once I was fully covered, I silently left the room with her still asleep.
My phone rang as soon as I left the building. "Hey, dad." I answered, jumping in my car and starting the engine. "Why'd you call?"
I could hear keys rustling in the background. "You won't believe this, Brook. I got a promotion!" He cheered in the other line. In actuality, I did expect him to get a promotion. After the countless workload he had received this month, he deserved it.
"Great Dad...Is that all you called for? You could have waited 'till I came back home," I truthfully said. It's not that I wasn't proud of my dad, it was just that it wasn't really that big of a news to call me for. After all, I'm not a big fan of calling - unless it's an emergency. And this was no emergency.
"Of course I have something else to say." For some reason he sounded awfully happy. I raised an eyebrow, perplexed. He was never this happy. "The promotion I got makes it possible for me to move anywhere and you know what that means.. We can move back to Bryton!"
My hand was shaking and it only took a few more movements until I completely loosened my grip on my phone and drop it. That was what I call news and it left me utterly speechless.
Bryton was the town I spent the best two years of my life in. It was the best because I was with two amazing ladies who, with the aid of my dad, help me get pass my mother's death and showed me the world again.
Especially my little sister, Summer, who is probably grown up now and doesn't need me to help her get changed. She's probably having boy problems right now as we speak.
I pulled the lever to change the gear, forgetting that my dad was waiting for my reply. I was just too excited to get home.
"Brooklyn? Are you still there, honey? Did you hear what I said?"
"Yes, dad. I was just getting carried away. When are we leaving?" I asked. I reversed my car slowly until it was on the road.
"Tomorrow morning," He replied.
"That soon?" I said. Sure, I was happy that I'll be able to see my family again but I built this huge foundation during my time here and I was going to lose all of that tomorrow.
"Yes," He confirmed making me sigh loudly. He ended the line, cutting the chance for me to disagree or to interject with his plans.
Well, if I'm leaving this soon, I need to at least say goodbye to my friends. I quickly dialled Jennifer's number and told her what had happened and what was going to happen. She didn't take the news as good as I thought but she agreed to round everyone up to her house so I could have a proper goodbye with them.
I parked my car outside Jen's house. It was a mansion of a house with a crystal blue pool to complement it. I was going to miss crashing this place.
