I'm not the best person in the world, I don't always make the right decisions and I don't always say the right things, but that's who i am. Scarlet Cortson and today is my 16th birthday.
I woke up to Fall Out Boy screaming out of my alarm and as much as i tried to ignore them i couldn't go back asleep. I grabbed my phone and turned it off, hoping to go back to sleep but luck just wasn't on my side today. Just as my head touched the soft, fluffy pillow, my mum barged in the room.
"HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY SWEETHEART!!"
She stood at the edge of my bed, with a smile as big as the Cheshire cats.
"Hurry up, i want you to open your presents before you go to school"
Slowly i dragged myself out of bed and went to the bathroom to get ready for school. As i made my way down i saw all the banners and balloons that were all over the house. Birthdays are a big deal to my mum because apparently 'It was the day you were brought into the world and you don't know how many you're going to have', in my opinion birthdays just mean that you're a year closer to death.
The first thing i noticed when i walked into the living room was my mum holding a big pile of presents. Every year my mum buys me loads of presents to make up for the fact that it's only the two of us, i don't know what happened to my dad because my mum never talks about him but i think he left before i was born.
I only had ten minutes before i needed to leave for school so i opened my presents as fast as i could. I got some concert tickets, clothes, make up and a new art set. After thanking my mum for all my presents i ran outside and started making my way to hell, also known as Winchester High. I was expecting this to just be a normal day, little did i know that God had other plans..
