Bang!
I wake startled. At first I think that it's just a hunter in the nearby woods, but then I hear his scream. It is a scream filled with terror and pain.
I go cold. I jump out of bed and race down the hall to find him.
I have no idea what happened but I have to find out. I have to help him.
These are my only thoughts as I enter the kitchen and find him.
He is laying in laying on the ground, his shirt soaked with blood.
I rush over to him. "Daddy!" I scream.
He's still breathing but each looks like a struggle.
"Help" he mumbles.
"Ok, I'll go get some" I say. "Don't worry you'll be ok"
Even as I am saying it I know it's a lie.
And then within seconds he's gone. I watch as the life leave his eyes.
But that doesn't stop me from shaking him and yelling in his ear, trying to wake him.
I know it's useless but I want him back more than I have ever wanted anything in my life.
Once I can't stand to look at him anymore I run out the door and down the street to the only person who I know can understand how I feel at this moment, Hayes.
