Chapter 1: Packing

Moving to Cincinnati, Ohio is gonna be really hard for me. Leaving my best friend since sixth grade is going to break me. Oh, before I start telling you my story, my name is Katelyn and I'm 17. I guess I'm what you call a goth. My best friend is Tracy. I live in South Carolina, but as of tomorrow, I will be moving up North to Ohio.

"Will I ever get to see you? Ever?" Tracy asked while looking through my song books. "I like this one!" She pointed to a song that I wrote called "Heart Break Song".

"Of course you will see me, Tracy!" I said with tears forming in my eyes. "I'll Skype you as much as I can, I promise!" I just couldn't hold back the tears. They just started coming. I mean I was moving to some state that I've never been too and start all over. Had to find new friends, and considering the way I dress, it was gonna be pretty hard to fit in.

I just look at Tracy with eyes filled with tears. "I'm gonna miss you Trace." I said hugging her as tight as I could. She was like my sister. I could tell her anything. "Well I better get home before my mom starts to worry." Tracy said as she walked towards my door. "Call me when you get to Cincinnati." I smiled and waved. "Ok I will." I said holding back more tears. She walked out my door and I went down stairs to find my mom passed out on the couch. Poor thing was exhausted. I went looking for my dad, whom I found in his home office packing the last bit of his things.

"Hey dad. Do you need any help?" I asked kind of hoping he would say no. I was sick of packing shit. "Well... You can get that last stack of papers on my desk for me and put them in that box over there." He said pointing to the box beside his file cabinet.

"Dad?" I asked with a few tears in my eyes. "Yeah darling?" He said not even looking at me. He was more focused on packing his office supplies. "Do we really have to move? I mean can't you find work closer to home?" He finally put what he was doing down and looked at me. "Katelyn, if I could, you know for a fact that I would. You never know, you may like Cincinnati." He said with a slight smile on his face. I couldn't help but smile back. My dad was not like any ordinary dad. I could talk to him about boy problems without him asking me if I was pregnant or if I had an std. He listened to me, and I admired that about him.

"Yeah, I guess your right." I said with a shrug, still a little unsure. I walked out of the my dad's office and went up to my room, laid on my bed, and fell asleep listening to KISS. I was not really looking forward to tomorrow.
