AN: OK, so here's the update :) YAY...but future chapters will take some time, I'm back and school and totally swamped but I appreciate y'all sticking with me and being so invested with this story. IT WILL BE FINISHED!

This decision had been a long hard process, it had taken growth from adolescence to adulthood, time and alot of negotiation. Yet here she was at 19, gearing up to record her first single with Jay Z of all artists. Destiny's Child had finished recording Survivor and their world tour was coming to an end, filming for 'Carmen: A Hip Hopera' was wrapping up and now they were announcing the band's hiatus and consequently their solo projects.

It was crazy sometimes when Beyoncé thought about it she was only 19 yet she had an upcoming movie, a completed world tour, 2 successful albums, was surrounded by an incredibly supportive family and was beginning a relationship with the man she considered her best friend. Pretty damn lucky.

The conference room had cleared and the girls were left to dwell in the fact that the next time they recorded material it would be their own. All Beyoncé could say to subside any residual fear was, "We will always be Destiny's Child, you are my sisters and our destiny has not been fulfilled." That was all there was to it, now to embark on the journey of  a lifetime.

Returning to New York City to lay down her part on 03 Bonnie and Clyde with Jay, she was only accompanied by her mother to which the two were having a heated discussion regarding the nature of her 'relationship' with said rap mogul.

"Beyoncé he is 30 years old, baby. Not to mention the reputation. Now I know he may be charming and -" Tina Knowles said, shaking her head in rebuke and her eldest daughters seemingly close partnership with Mr. Carter.

"No." Beyoncé stated simply.

"Excuse me?" Tina asked incredulously. Her daughter was not rude by nature, she had raised her so the blunt denial of her opinion coming from said daughter was a shock to the system.

"I'm sorry Mama but y'all don't know Jay like I do. I know how people see him, he comes across as...rude and passive aggressive, but he's not. Not with me. Shawn Carter is one of the kindest, funniest and most talented men in this business. But most important he respects me and he's got my back, and I got his. Y'all don't get to judge him before meeting him, especially not because of how mature he is...so no Mama." Beyoncé said firmly, yet still maintained the utmost respect she held for her mother.

Tina knew she should be mad at her 19 year old girl for blatantly disrespecting her opinion but how could she when her baby girl was acting so grown up? So instead she smiled, "OK baby, but me and your Daddy wanna meet him. That's all we ask."

"Sure thing Mama." Beyoncé said, hiding a smirk, proud of herself for sticking up for her boyfriend. She knew what people would say about them because of the age difference, but she couldn't bring herself to care. Her parents may not have been aware of how developed her relationship with the rap mogul was but they were sure to find out...

Jay Z was completely focused and enthralled with the background music of Tupac's: Me & My Girlfriend track they had borrowed for this collaboration and was etching new lyrics into his membrane - no need for a pen or paper. He was so focused on writing and re-writing the second verse, he didn't notice the stunningly beautiful Beyoncé Knowles take a seat beside the controls, putting on headphones and simply listen to the genius flow echoing through her ears.

The problem is, you dudes treat the one that you lovin/ with the same respect that you treat the one that you humpin/ Now they 'bout nothin - if ever you mad about somethin/ It won't be that; oh no it won't be that/ I don't be at, places where we comfy at/ With no be-atch; oh no you won't see that/ And no, I ain't perfect - nobody walkin this earth's surface is But girlfriend, work with the kid/ I keep you workin' at Hermes, Birkin Bag/ Manolo Blahnik, Timbs, aviator lens /600 drops, Mercedes Benz/ The only time you wear Burberry to swim/ And I don't have to worry, only worry is him/ She do anything necessary for him/ And I do anything necessary for her /so don't let the necessary occur, yep!

Beyoncé let a huge grin spread across her face, the smile touching her eyes just as Jay looked up to see her. The rap mogul didn't waste any time in tearing his headphones off and bolting out of the booth, hauling Beyoncé into a bone-crushing hug. Jay's arms slid from her waist to cup her cheek softly, gazing into her brown orbs before she unconsciously licked her lips in invitation. At that he planted a sweet kiss to her lips, all too soon tongues were in play, the empty studio being the perfect place to let passion commence. When the duo to broke apart, Beyoncé whispered breathlessly against his lips, "Hey baby..."

Jay pressed his forehead to hers, glad to finally have his woman in his arms again, because thar's what she was...his. Not in the condemning sense that he had power over her - merely that she had his heart now, that made her, his as a result. At first that thought scared him but he trusted Bey, she was his friend before anything else, she was real with him regardless of anything or anyone they encountered.

In reply he pressed his lips to her forehead and pulled her tight against his side, arm slung over her shoulder as he turned back to the studio simply stating, "Ready to make history?..."

A week later after copious amounts of studio time, meetings with producers, editing and re-editing the bass, drum line, lyrics and dealing with deadlines, Beyoncé and Jay were chilling in the studio after hours.

Beyoncé was munching on a bucket of fried chicken - her favourite, the fact that Jay had remembered made her heart swell a little - with her legs crossed sitting opposite Jay on the leather sofa that resided in the corner of the recording studio. There was no other sounds apart from the two superstars eating their food in comfortable silence, when they had finished Beyoncé set her trash the floor to be cleaned up later and sprawled along Jay's broad frame.

Curling an arm around her curvaceous frame, he began to run his fingers through her now wavy blonde locks, eliciting a satisfied hum from the young woman. Jay was content to stay like this - something he had never really felt - with his life and his career it was all systems go. All. The. Time. With Beyoncé it was finally alright to chill out, relax and just be.

"Bey?" Jay questioned softly, still continuing to brush strands of hair from her face.

Beyoncé merely mustered another hum in response, so content wrapped up in her boyfriend's arms, she was verging on the precipice of sleep.

"Lyndell tried to contact me through my agent yesterday." Jay said matter-of-factly, hiding a certain tone of resentment regarding Beyoncé's ex boyfriend who had crushed her heart at the tender age of 16. During their friendship the two had talked about everything, but when Beyoncé had found out Lyndell had cheated, Jay had ultimately been the one to remind her that she was worth more and deserved more.

The statement was short, but loaded full of tension, Beyoncé springing from the gentle embrace and beginning to pace the studio floor. What she didn't realize, as she dragged her fingers through her hair and avoided eye contact with Jay was, he was smiling.

"Beyoncé. Look at me." He stated, drawing those beautiful brown orbs to his, the eyes he lived for, the very windows to her soul.

"Wha- What did he want?" she asked, dropping her gaze again.

"I dunno, don't wanna know. I'm glad y'all didn't work out cuz imma show you how you deserve to be treated. You don't realize how outta this world you are Bey, and all I wanna do is spend every damn day of my life showing you tha' you are." Jay said, shrugging his shoulders like it was no big deal, not realizing how influential those words would have on his girlfriend.

All Beyoncé could do was stand rooted to the floor, mouth gaping at the incredible man sitting in front of her, her heart thundering in her ears and before she could think coherently she had blurted out, "I love you..."

At that both sets of eyes went wide, Beyoncé clapping a hand over her mouth, she expected a silence to follow but instead Jay sprang from his spot on the sofa, lifted her off her feet, simultaneously plundering his tongue into her mouth and savouring the feeling of their bodies pressed together.

Many women had uttered those three magic, very important words to Mr. Carter but they had failed to make his heart skip a beat, for a smile to spread so quickly across his face and for him to imagine a future together. Yet here he was with Beyoncé Knowles, staring into those eyes again, as he broke the kiss, whispering against her gorgeous lips, "I love you too Bey Bey...."
