Hannah walked downstairs, only to be greeted by a malicious smirk and an empty, wet bucket by her father's side. She silently whimpered, not only from the icy water her father had splashed on her sensitive morning skin, but also how she had to suffer from this every morning instead of a warm breakfast and a quick shower.
Hannah Linderman had long, blonde silky hair, a pair of sad blue eyes, naturally shaped eyebrows and was 5'3. "Grab your things, you're walking to school today.", her father snarled as he tossed Hannah her black and white henna-patterned backpack. She nodded, went and got ready, grabbed a granola bar from the pantry along with her books and walked out the door. As she stepped outside, the cold, crispy air greeted her skin to the bones, sending chills down her spine.

Opening her light blue locker door, Hannah carelessly shoved her backpack in and pulled her Science binder out, with a few separate papers she had spent the night working on a few hours ago. Suddenly, a loud slam was heard, and Hannah whimpered as she felt the hard metal against her fingers. She looked up and saw the school's most popular girls from the cheerleading squad, Avery Lopez and her group of friends, smirking at Hannah as a few others giggled. "What's wrong, Linderman? Can't stand a little boo-boo on your ugly body?", Avery laughed as she slapped Hannah's books out of her hand, along with the papers she had worked on from the night before and sashayed down the hallway with her group of skanks.
She quickly got up and was rapidly picking her papers and books up when she felt a hard bump on her head, looked up and widened her eyes. "William?" Oh god, she had just ran into William Giraldo, the boys' star player for the Varsity Jaggs Football Team. Hannah mentally facepalmed herself as she stuttered, "I-I'm so sorry! I just wasn't looking where I was going and trust me, I swear I really didn't mean to bump into you! Please don't hurt me.."
"Woah, woah, slow down there. It's alright haha! Don't worry, I'll help you pick these up.", William chuckled as he bent down along with Hannah, picked her scattered work up and handed them to her. "What's your name, by the way? I mean I'm sure you know me from biology class, since I've seen you a few times, but I don't think I've ever met you before."
"My name is Hannah Linderman. Academics Bio 11, right?" "Yeah! I don't really pay attention in class so I wouldn't know exactly everyone's names. God, but Ms. Wilson though! I wonder why she's single!"
Hannah and William laughed quietly as they thought about how embarrassing their biology teacher was. He suddenly turned to her, "Hey, so um, you're pretty nice and chill. I was wondering if it's possible in any way I can get your number?", he asked, with a bit of lingering hesitation in his voice. She laughed as she looked at his hopeful face, "Of course. it's 417-***-****"
"Alright so I guess I'll text you tonight, then?"
"Sure!"

"OH. MY. FREAKIN. GOD! HE ASKED FOR YOUR NUMBER?!"
"Yes, now shut up, you don't want the whole school hearing you, do you now?", Hannah laughed as she hushed her best friend, Lina Brooke. Lina had been by her side since kindergarten and knew everything-about her abusive father, her severe depression and anxiety, and everything Hannah had been through. In other words, they trusted each other with their lives.
"He asked for you numberrrrr", Lina creepily whispered into Hannah's ear from behind. Hannah giggled and playfully swatted her best friend.

Setting her books down in a hurry, Hannah rushed to the kitchen after slamming the door behind her. Jeremy was going to be home any minute now, and she completely forgot about dinner. Quickly but carefully, she chopped the mini potatoes in half and tossed them in the boiler, as well as ripping open a pack of raw salisbury steak and placing it in the pan. Her eyes widened at the sound of the keys jingling against the front door. Oh shit, dad was home. Who knew what he'd do to her this time?
The door was slammed and locked shut, followed by a pair of heavy footsteps against the hard, ceramic floor. Jeremy entered the kitchen, his hair messy and his clothes unevenly shifted.
"Why isn't dinner ready?", he growled at Hannah, who was already cowering in front of him.
"I-I'm sorry, I completely forgot... It's almost done, I promise..", she whispered.
Peering up at the towering figure in front of her, she could see he was enraged and suddenly felt disappointed in herself. All she had to do was make dinner and prepare it on time, yet she couldn't even remember.
Jeremy's eyes started to turn black, the kind that scared Hannah the most, and stepped closer to her shaking body. "This better be done by the time I get out of the shower.", he muttered, and walked away.
Her breath seemed to stabilize as he walked away with each step, and resumed preparing dinner.

Hannah looked at herself in the mirror, inspecting the now black and blue bruises on her body, along with her black eye. The clock had struck two in the morning, yet she couldn't sleep at all. She didn't know if it was the pain the bruises were bringing her, or the hurt in her heart that she felt every time she thought of her father and how he changed. He used to be much different than how he is now, he was kind and gentle, his emerald eyes always had a shine to them, now replaced with a flashing anger.
She never knew why he treated her with so much hate and abuse, but all she knew was, she deserved it.
