"They found her." Steve said bursting into Bucky's room. "They found Lillian." Bucky lept off the bed to his feet and followed Steve downstairs to the main part of the building where they were stopped by T'Challa.
"The girl has not spoken. I feel that she may be fearful of her being brought here." Bucky's heart didn't slow down. His heart had been pounding in his chest since he started running down the stairs. He looked over T'Challa's shoulder and there she was. Lillian's long black hair was chopped in layers but the longest layers still reached her mid stomach. Her green eyes darted around the room in fear and her small, unmanicured fingers clutched a notebook to her bone frail frame. Bucky's heart stopped dead then doubled up again. He stepped closer to her cautiously. He got within ear shot of her and called her by name.
"Lillian." She turned towards him and her eyes widened. She meekly walked to him, still clutching the notebook, and looked up at him timidly.
"Do you know who I am?" Bucky asked her. Lillian reached out and took his metal hand in her hand, examining it. She then stepped closer, closed her eyes and kissed his metal bicep like she had done in the past. Bucky let out a breath that he didn't know what he was holding in. He closed his eyes even though he couldn't feel her lips on his arm, it was the knowledge that she remembered her gesture that told him over and over again that he was not a monster and he had no reason to think that he was a monster. He wrapped his arms around her and, carefully for fear of breaking her, held her so close to his body it felt as though she would mold to him. She dropped her notebook on the floor and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her fingers began to tangle in his hair and they pulled away just a little bit. Their lips locked and their tongues barely touched as more memories of her rushed back. He remembered helping her get away from Hydra along with the punishment that he was given when it was found out that it was him that helped her. Bucky pulled away from her and held her face in his hands. Lillian still hadn't said anything and Bucky just wanted to hear her say his name
"Say something. " he said with a wide smile. His smile faltered, however, when Lillian's face fell and she slowly covered her mouth with her hands. "What is it doll?" Lillian's eyes filled with tears and her hand fell to her throat. She tapped her throat lightly with her fingertips then shook her head in a 'no' manner. Bucky's heart sank to his feet. It clicked.
"You...you can't speak." He said. She shook her head. He pulled her in close to him again then looked her in the eyes to ask her what happened. She mouthed "Hydra." Bucky clinched his fists and set his jaw firmly. Lillian bent down and picked up her notebook again. Bucky stepped closer to her, so that now his hip was touching her waist and looked over her shoulder with his metal arm around her as she wrote, 'You brought me back.' Bucky's stomach churned and he wanted to vomit. His eyes welled with tears as he realized that he was the reason that she had her beautiful voice stolen from her. He wrapped his arms around her one more time and looked to T'Challa.
"Help me." He pleaded. The King smiled and replied while extending his hand, "Let's see what we can do."
