"No!" I scread as I barrelled through the underbrush the sound of footsteps right behind me.
"Sam! Wake up! Samantha!"
"No!! Get away!! Help me!!" I yelled before I realized it was just my sister.
"Are you okay? Was it another dream about dad?" Hanna asked, concern masking her face.
I shake my head up and down. Two years ago my father killed my mother and tried to kill us too but we got away before he even tried to kill our mother. My sister is 21 and I'm 15. She has a job at a law firm so we're doing well.
"Hanna, what if he comes back?" I ask my voice quivering. The police could never prove him guilty especially if a couple of kids were testifying.
"He won't. I promise," Hanna said looking in my eyes with fear because she lied. She doesn't know that he won't come back. Both of us don't. "It's almost time to leave for school. Hurry and get dressed," she says breaking my train of thought.
I walk over to my closet and pull out a loose tank top of my favorite metal band
and some black skinny jeans. I hurry downstairs to eat a bite of toast and walk out the door for school.
My sister and I couldn't quite afford the apartments on the other side of town because of bills and other things.
Once I arrive at school I quickly go to my spot. I have no friends. I'm an outcast and everytime somebody walks by theyes whisper to their friend about how weird I am. I can't blame them. I mean by the music I listen to and the way I dress I don't blame them.
The first bell rings signaling for us to go to first period.
As the school day dragged on an announcement came on saying, "Samantha Simmons to the office. Now." The teacher nods signalling his approval to let me go. I gather my things and walk out the door.
Click, click, click the hall echoed as I walked down it. I finally get to the office where I state my name to the office lady and she points to a man sitting in a waiting chair.
"Hey Sammy," the man says looking up.
"Dad?" I ask.
"I'm surprised you rember me," he says with a smirk.
I didn't say Anything I just turned around and ran. I ran out of the school down the street to an alleyway. I just stood there trying to catch my breath.
"Sammy, you didn't think you could get away THAT easily?"
I screamed and took off again. I kept yelling help but nobody seemed to notice me. I turned around and saw nothing.
"Ahem. Right behind you."
I turned to see my dad there.
"Leave me alone!!!" I screamed and ran straight into him. I made him stumble into a window that shattered from his weight. This gave me the head start and I reached the apartment within minutes thanks to my adrenaline.
"Sam! what are you doing home so early?!" Hanna screamed.
I panted, "Dad.... He...He'sss... back," I said and fell onto my knees from my tiredness.
"Samantha, did you just say he's back?"
I nod and Hanna's hand flew up to her hair signalling that she's trying to figure out what to do.
"Hanna, What do we do?"
"Go get some things and go down the fire ladder. I'll be here. Go."
I stared at her because I knew she wasn't planning on coming with me.
"Go!" Hanna yelled.
I ran upstairs, pulling things out of draws and shoving them into my now empty backpack. I heard Hanna scream.
"What are you doing here. Leave us alone!"
"I'm not here for you Hanna. Get out of my way."
"Sammy! Run!" I heard Hanna yell.
I grabbed my backpack and sprinted to my window. I heard two gunshots go off, and heard a thump on the floor.
