Chapter 1

I wake up to the once prosperous town of Chicago, a town reduced to poverty and crime where the sounds of gunshots are more commonly heard than the chirping of birds or the rustle of leaves I sit up in my bed and pick up an old history book and glance at it, the names "bomb" by Steve sheinkin and it's about the development of the first nuclear bomb and the communist spies involved in the situation, I start reading it for about the billionth time as my Aunt Amai calls for me to eat breakfast, I put down my book and look out the window to see a group of Shtârwhèchers (Private police led by Resnov) beating down a hobo, I sigh in depression as I watch his blood splatter across the asphalt, I turn away and walk down my creaky stairs I turn the corner to see me sickly aunt who has just contracted Teboluk and is falling apart "Good morning aunt Amai how are you today?" I greet her, to which she responds "Not well, Doctor Amaranth just called to say that my disease is accelerating at an abnormal speed.." I feel a surge of sadness rip through me as I process what she has just uttered, "Your going to....die quicker than expected...?", I question "I'm sorry rokozhan, first your parents then me, you'll live through this I promise..." We eat breakfast in silence until it's time for me to head to school, I grab my things and say goodbye, as I walk out the door I glance towards the sky to see a small fighter squadron soar through the sky leaving a smoke trail, Resnov recently declared war against the UK and is mobilizing all military personnel into action for the imminent battles for power I walk down the bloodied streets while breathing in the musty polluted air of a dying world when I finally reach my school I step inside to see the general rustle of people that are dying on the inside I shove my bag into my locker and head into my homeroom to see that the students are being highly unruly due to Mr. Omagha being God knows where, I sit down and go through the first 7 periods of school uninterrupted without any hint of disturbance before I hear a jet fly by after a large explosion is sounded throughout chicago the class starts screaming in fear while my biology teacher Mr. Temghar tries to get everyone into the bunker and settle everyone down "What the hell is happening? I question loudly to which Mr. Temghar replies, "I believe the UK is bombing Chicago in an effort to weaken the American people, and discourage them, shame they don't realise that President Retoli is a mastermind when it comes to war and he will vanquish the vile lands of the United Kingdom" I feel slightly shocked as I always thought Mr. Temghar was against the tyranny of Resnov Retoli, I thank him for telling me and sit down so I can wait for the bombing raid to stop it is 9th period and 10 minutes before schools over when the bombing raid finally simmers down, when we are eventually released I look at the damage the UK has health upon Chicago to conclude that this is only the beginning, when both nations pull out their nuclear stockpile things are going to turn to hell fast I head home and sleep for the rest of the day.
