He inhaled sharply, preparing to speak, but the words never left his mouth. “I know, I Know” she exhaled from her scarlet lips “you probably want to know what’s going on” she spoke, her smirk pulled at his nerves. His face burnt with anger, and a frustration rose in his chest.  He took a deep breath and pushed down his anger.  “Well, may you ask!” her voice full of irony, here eyelids stretched wide.

It was a strange sight. He had always looked at Mia as his younger sister, but now, as she sat on her iron throne, raised on her velvet pedestal, he couldn’t help feeling as if he was her servant, and she were his master. Everything about screeched dominance, her pale face, her blood red lips, her ebony hair that hung down past her shoulders, but most of all her grey eyes that bore into your sole; her stare alone could kill a man.  But at the same time, she was familiar and friendly. Behind her façade he could see sadness, like a puppy begging; there was no way he could ever be angry with her. “You didn’t hear a word I said.” She spoke, humour lined her tone. I’m sorry, but something has happened to Aries-“I know” her voice was now soft and sad. “He committed suicide” she paused and lowered her head “I found him dead” he thought she might cry, but not a tear flowed from her flawless cheeks. “He’s not dead” he swallowed hard “this is going to be hard to explain, but you have to believe me.” His tone was sincere, but Mia only shook her head. “Dionysus, don’t lie to yourself, he’s dead, and you have to except it” “no… He can’t be dead because he came to my apartment and attacked me! I’m sure of it” a long pause followed, and he felt hot tears slide down his face. It was Mia who broke the silence “listen to me. It wasn’t Aries who attacked you…”

“Then who was it!” It was your dog” “How dare you accuse Tatoe” he spoke in a horrific softness “he would never-“ “I forced him.” she said timidly, as if she was talking to a stray dog, she continued in the same tone “Dion, the rebels… they found the records at your lab… we know about the cure…” “What do you mean we?” “I’ve joined the rebels” her voice calm as ever. Deus warned us all not to go near them… you promised… how you dare betray your brother!” disgust spread across his face “and then you force my dog to attack me? What kind of maniac are you? He’s just a dog” she raised her eyebrows. “We both know he was never just a dog.” Bitterness coated her words. “And I never told your mutt to attack you! I told I needed him to lead you here!’ his heart sank “And I only asked him to do it because I need your help… I need the cure…” He grasped the back of his neck, very slightly shaking his head; “why?”  “Matt got scratched… he only has a few more days” her eyes filled with tears “please, I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t need it” “alright then… but only because you’re my sister…”“Ugh… I hate Deus…” she wiped her eye “Where did that come from?” he squinted “what does Deus have to do with this?” “I thought you knew…” “Knew what?” “Deus created the infected.”
