The sun was in hiding. The floor was wet, puddles everywhere. In the middle of the battlefield, only three people remain in this seemingly, calm rain.
"You see, in using your magic. You don't need chants and names for your spells. It's up to your mind to do he trick yourself. Just visualize it, and then make it happen." Jaune explained to Emily who nodded at every word he said.
It's been 4 days since the day Cedric challenged Emily to a duel. The tension inside her just keeps building up, and butterflies in her stomach are getting more and more aggresive. By that, it means that it's giving her more time to spend with the toilet.
Now, Emily is trying to learn as much as she can about powers before she can use her own.
"You see, a technique works best when you concentrate on your mind forming the attack you want." Jaune demonstrates using his power, called "Manipulation." It's when one manipulates, objects, animals, and impossibly-possibly even humans.
But it takes a lot of time to master manipulating humans. It's harder than anything.
"I see." Emily nods, starting to understand the basics. One by one, she lists them down on arranged paper clippings.
The session between Jaune and Emily ended after 3 hours. Lunch was being served, and Emily was in her room.
"Em, aren't you gonna eat lunch?" Emily looks at Gillian, who just entered her tent. As usual, Gillian held her chestnut colored hair in a tight ponytail. Gillian liked simple looks. Gillian was simple herself. She had freckles right below her eyes and she had green emerald eyes.
"Yeah, you go on ahead. I'll be there in a tiny bit." Emily gestured her to go on first and Gillian smiled and gave her an 'OK' sign.
Gillian heads outside on the cafeteria tent, and Emily stays behind. Studying every single detail of what she learned from Jaune.
Jaune was the Fifth seat of the Elite Ten Mages. He is said to be powerful. But, not powerful enough to take full control of a human.
I wonder when my powers will come?
Emily shrugs and yawns. She woke up early this morning. She had equipment duty. She had to shine all the mages equipment and battle armor.
Emily yawns again, and this time, she went to sleep. Her eyes forcefully closing.
Time Skip- Sunday, 9:10 AM
The breeze seemed different on the long awaited day of their battle.
Emily, wakes up, after getting wobbled up by Gillian.
"Come on, Em. Get up already. You'll lose if you slack off." Gillian said, pulling her by the wrist. Gillian dragged her all the way to the showers.
"Aren't you done?" Gillian asked stomping her foot furiously. "Uh, hm." Emily was still sleepy. She could feel herself wobbling and her mind wavering.
"Hey, Em." Gillian said, knocking on the wooden oak door. Gillian had worry in her voice. After all, Emily was against a 9th seat from the Elite Ten Mages.
"Hm?" Emily asked, staring at the door, waiting for an answer. Emily had put all her worries and fear behind, quite possibly hoping she could just get put of the situation she was put in.
"Do you really think you can win?" Emily felt Gillian leaning on the door. She could even hear her sighing at the thought. Well, it was impossible and it had a 0.01% chance of her actually winning.
"I don't know. It's confusing and nerve-wracking." Emily sighed, feeling the pressure and the fear, once more.
Emily unlocks the door, exiting the shower, "But, I'll try my best." She said, and let out a smile. Gillian, seeing the effort and courage, finally made herself feel at ease.
Gillian and Emily walk together back to Emily's tent. "Oh, Emily. You better hurry, it's almost time." Jaune exclaimed, "Oh, uh." Seeing Emily just wearing a robe, Jaune looks away, red and embarrased. "Sorry, I didn't see." Jaune said, slowly walking away, trying to rid of the embarrasement.
Gillian and Emily laughed as they watch Jaune running away. They enter the tent, Emily enters a mini dressing room and Gillian guards outside the dressing room to prevent peeking.
Emily finishes getting dressed. With a white blouse, brown leather jacket; brown puffy round shorts, and stockings, she exits the dressing room to wear her brown leather boots.
"Nice outfit. Perfect for winning." Gillian said, winking at Emily. "Hey, Em. Have you ever thought about how pretty you are?" Gillian asks, handing her a hand mirror.
"Well, that came out of nowhere," Emily looks at the hand mirror, looking rather surprised at her bestfriend's comment. Emily taking the hand mirror, looks at her reflection.
She had long brown hair and at the tips of her hair were white, in the middle of her white and brown hair were pinkish. She had wondered if it was natural or not, but everyone found it really beautiful. She also had brown eyes and a fair skin tone. Other than that, there were no more extra details.
"I'm not that grand." Emily looking at herself, replied. "I'll tie your hair for you." Gillian offered. Emily nodded and handed her a brush.
Gillian carefully brushes Emily's hair, and ties it up in a very high ponytail. "Done. Now, let's go before Cedric loses it." Gillian laughed as she tapped Emily's shoulder. They both stand up and head outside, walking with joy and happiness instead of fear.
Emily didn't want to leave such a wonderful place. She had friends and people to call, 'family'.
I have to win this. This is all I've got. I'm not gonna let some, rude and ill-mannered, idiotic guy take it from me. Not my friends, and the place I now call home.
I'm gonna win this.
