HAUNTING SINS

I was going back to home feeling totally exhausted. It was getting dark and I felt like I was lost in the darkness which was surrounding my life.

“Hello?” I answered my ringing phone in a low voice.

“Hey! How did your audition go?” Rajan asked me excitedly.

“I am tired of getting rejected, Rajan” was all I could say.

“Ohh. Just don’t worry Alex. Everything will be alright.” I could feel his tone lowering too. After a minute of awkward silence he said, “Come on Alex! You know you have it in you! Don’t give up girl.” I knew he was just trying to cheer me up.

“Anyway tomorrow you have your photo shoot. You remember, right?” he asked.

“Yes.” 

“Okay. Be on time. Now go get your beauty sleep my princess!”

“Ya. Meet you tomorrow. Goodnight.”

“Bye. Take care my dear.”

I had reached home by now. As I entered in, I directly fell on my bed thinking about how I have messed up my life. Tiredness took over me and I went into deep sleep.

As I woke up in the morning, the first thing that came into my mind was ‘Raven’! Her name itself scared the hell out of me. “When is this girl going to stop coming in my dreams?” I said to myself in frustration.

“Who? What happened Alex?” I heard a voice from behind. There she was standing, my housemaid Lily, giving me a concerned look.

“Nothing.” I said getting up from my bed.

“You are again getting those nightmares, aren’t you? Why don’t you see a doc my dear. It will surely help you.” she said.

“Go do your work Lily. It is none of your business. I know what to do and what not to. Do not act like my mother.” I shouted at her in a firm voice. I knew I was being rude here. Somewhere there was a feeling of guilt inside me for doing so. But I couldn’t help it. I was hiding something from her. I didn’t want anyone to know the reason behind my nightmares.

I then remembered I had to go for a photo shoot today and so I went to take shower immediately. I was under the shower when suddenly I heard a whispering voice near my ear. 

“I trusted you Alex.”

Hearing those words I couldn’t move an inch from where I was standing. I was so frightened that I started getting goose bumps on my skin. I did not understand what to do at that moment and so I stayed there reactionless. I had no guts to look behind and see who it was or what it was, or maybe it was just my imagination! Just when I thought it would be my imagination, out of nowhere two large hands came out and it tried pulling me into the wall. I screamed at the top of my lungs for my life. I screamed out for help. Those blood stained hands held me so tightly that I felt like someone is piercing my arms with a knife. I cried out aloud with pain. With all my energy I struggled to save myself and somehow I managed to come out of the bathroom. Hearing my screams Lily rushed to me and she was shocked to see me in this state. I was sitting in front of the bathroom door naked and frightened. Yes, I was nude and it was the most embarrassing moment when Lily came in and saw me like this. Lily quickly took a blanket and covered my naked body at first and then asked me what exactly happened. I couldn’t explain her about what happened or else she might have thought that I am going insane. I checked my hands and there were neither stains of blood nor any cuts. I myself couldn’t understand what had just happened!
