At the time that the world came crashing down, I just had to be doing something ordinary. But then, I suppose it wasn't really something I could have predicted or planned for. In fact, it wasn't even really the end of the world. What happened did not actually change the world, or destroy it. It simply shattered my world, my delicate perception of the world, the universe, and the government that claimed to protect us all. As I was saying, I was, of course, doing something mundane and normal when I found out that everything I had ever believed was a careful, complex, and extremely delicate lie.
I was driving home.
