Sarah's pov)
My last period of school is math, and I can honestly say I suck. I try just has hard as I do in every other subject, but for me, it never clicks. My best friend Jean is year younger than me. she skipped ninth grade, and every Monday morning she helps me with my calculus homework. to her, it's a game. This helps me keep my straight b + record. but it does have it's drawbacks. For some odd reason my math teacher has higher standards for me. So when he asked me to take the pre-entry test for 12th grade maths honors, all I could say was,
"why",
"because Sarah, you are the best student in this math class."
"but twelfth grade is quite a jump, and I don't think I am ready for honors."
"Well Sarah, I think you are."
I closed my eyes and prepared my self to admit my darkest math secret. " I am going to tell you a secret Mr. Molhone, I am actually really bad at math, Jean, my best friend, helps me with my math every Monday."
"is that so",
"Yes it is."
"is Jean in second period math?"
"yes sir"
"how do you do it then, how do you sneak her into last period math during tests and quizzes?"
"well I don't Mr. Molhone."
" so what your telling me Sarah, is that quizzes and tests are done by your own brain?"
" Um, I guess so."
"Good, I will be expecting you after school on Friday. please get ready for the pre- entry calculus "
I storm out of class with my fist clenched and my face firm. I thought teachers were supposed to understand and support, I mean that's what it says on the schools website. Of course once again situations in my life never work out. I tried out for basketball and did not make it. Once I was watching the last game before playoffs, and I got put on the team to take the place for one of the 'official' players "Alicia Gonzalo's" when she broke her foot in in the middle of a game. I really enjoyed myself and to make matters better the doctor said her foot wouldn't be healed in time for playoffs, which meant I got to play for the rest of the season. I am not some heartless person who enjoys seeing people in pain, but this was my one and only opportunity to FINALLY do something I loved. Plus it is not like I injured her or anything. It was an accident on the court, one of the girls on the other team 'accidentally' grabbed her foot as she tried to 'jump throw' the ball . She ended up making it into the basket, and the hospital. But after that, I got to play one whole game, Mrs. Gonzalo's, who happened to be a lawyer, suede the school for replacing her with 'non official' player. She quickly concluded her case in court by stating, because my parents have not filled out my permission slip, and I have not taken my physical, it would be a danger to my health if I got hurt. Also if I did need to go to the hospital because of an injury, my parents could sue because they have not filled out a waver stating that 'whatever happens to your child during basketball hours cannot be blamed on the school, therefore signature confirms that we cannot be suede or etc.'. She finished her case by stating since the time frame of the wavers was exceeded, there was no way the forms could filled out now.
So that ended my basketball dream, and I had to hand in my.. Well her jersey.
