I opened my eyes to water droplets splashing on my face. There were trees looming high above my head, and their branches almost completely blocked out what little light was coming from the moon. I felt dizzy, as if I'd been asleep for days or drugged and the trees were going by pretty fast, but I couldn't feel my legs moving.

"Isaac, hurry up. You're walking at the speed of a dying snail." I looked up to see that a man was carrying me. He was extremely muscular and had a jean jacket with the sleeves torn off, showing his snake tattoo. His hair was buzzed and he was extremely tall. Only after a few moments of confusion, did I realize he was talking to a man behind him, who seemed about 10 years younger, and looked a lot less intimidating.

The man behind us scowled and said, "Duff, I swear to god, if you tell me to hurry up one more time, I'm going to have to kill you. I'm going as fast as I can." Isaac  was wearing a black hoodie and jeans, and had clean-cut, dark black hair, that was soaked with rain. And then I realized he was carrying something.

A body.

I woke up to my alarm on my phone ringing. I groaned, clicked the off button, and groggily sat up in bed.

School. Great.

I threw the covers off my bed and searched through the few pairs of clothes I currently had with me, throwing on a loose button up shirt and jeans. I grabbed my bag near the window and stopped suddenly as I looked up. There were three long scratches running down the window. I could have sworn they weren't there the night before.Squinting in confusion,  I reached over to touch them and I stood frozen as I looked outside the window and saw a girl in my backyard staring at me.

I paused and looked at her. She had long, blonde hair, and looked a little it older than me. Her stare was intense and spine-chilling. I couldn't look away. I knew there was something extremely off about her. Everything was normal except.. were her eyes.. red? I gasped and my hands started shaking when I saw her smirk. There was something terrifying and familiar about her but I just couldn't-

"August! You're going to be late!" I jumped and spun around, startled, and saw my mom standing in the doorway with her arms folded. "Why so jumpy?" She laughed. "Nothing. I just didn't hear you come in." I mumbled quickly. She shook her head. "Come on, get your bag, I'm taking you and Emily to school." I threw my backpack over my shoulder and stole one last glance out my window. The girl was gone.

I sighed, then walked downstairs, and grabbed a granola bar. "Why don't you ever eat actual breakfast? A granola bar is a snack." My sister chastised me and rolled her eyes. I shrugged.

"Well if I ate as much as you did for breakfast, I'd be fat now wouldn't I." Emily shoved me out of her way as she scowled and stomped angrily out to the car. "Girls..." I mumbled and got in the front seat with my mom.

It only took about 10 minutes to get to school. Once we drove up to the front, I realized just how massive it was. Well, maybe normal size for some people, but double the size of my old school. The school was swarming with kids talking out front. It was kind of cliche how many clicks there were. There were the jocks in one corner, a bunch of preppy-looking blondes in another, then goths, etc.

Luckily, there did seem to be some normals in the mix. I hesitated for a moment.

"You can't stay in the car forever sweetie." My mom smiled and then reached over me to open the car door. "Please don't embarass me.. I can do this myself." I said pleadingly. "Have a good day at school.", she said and then she smiled.
