Chapter 1

September 1st,  2015. Kings Cross. A tall eleven year old girl with short brown hair, clad in jeans and a strewn button up, waited for a train going to a place she'd only months ago heard of. Next to her, were the belongings she'd obtained yesterday, after procrastinating for the weeks she'd be told in advance. The young girl had never been away from home for a week, now she was minutes away from being secluded from the life she'd known for eleven years. She smiled at the thought of leaving for a full school year. With excitement filling her, she looked to her knew pet owl, who was more like a friend, and gave it a treat. The ebony black, red eyed owl nipped playfully at the young girl's hand before taking the treat.
"Aww. I love you too, Gerard." She told the bird. Looking down to her watch, she saw it was five minutes until her dubbed, 'miracle train', was due to arrive. She sat up and wiped the imaginary dust from her outfit and checked once more to make sure everything was accounted for. Once checking everything for what seemed like the millionth time, she began walking to the platform. After taking about five steps a sudden force collided with the girl, knocking her to the ground. She looked up to identify the force and came face to face with another human. Annoyance filled the sitting girl's face.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" She slightly yelled to the small brown haired girl who's face immediately changed from rushed to horrified.
"Oh my goodness! Are you okay?! I'm so sorry! Please don't yell at me! I'm sorry!" The standing girl yelled dropping to her knees to help the taller one up. The fallen girl's face changed. She hadn't meant to yell at the girl, but she had been caught off guard and accidentally dropped her effort towards kindness. She wasn't a bad person by any means, but with her home life, a joyful aura wasn't expected. Rising to her feet, she smiled apologetically, holding out a hand to the still frantic girl.
"Hey, you're alright. I'm so-" She began but was cut of when yet another girl crossed between the two, facing the tall girl with her arms crossed. She was medium height with half a shaven head and medium length brown hair on the other side.
"What do you think you were doing?" The new girl asked, glaring. When no answer was given, she continued. "Don't you know it's wrong to bully? What did she do to you?" She asked with anger in her voice, while helping up the kneeling girl. The tallest girl was surprised to say the least at the actions of the middle girl. A slight satisfied smirk appeared on the tall girl's face as the medium girl stood her ground. However, the girl took the smirk the wrong way. "Oh you think this is funny?" She asked, getting more frustrated.
"Oh no, I don't. Really." The other girl instantly calmed but kept a look of disbelief present on her face. The smallest girl shyly  tapped the disbelivent girl's shoulder.
"Um... She's telling the truth. I accidentally ran into her. She was apologizing before you cut her off. But I'm sure you didn't mean to." She explained meekly, hiding her face slightly.
"Oh god. I'm sorry." The girl said after the realization hit her. She'd always had a problem of jumping to conclusions when the possibility of a another person's safety was provoked. "I didn't mean to come across as rude. I just thought.... I'm sorry."
"It's okay." The tall one responded with a kind smile. "I'm glad you did that. It shows you care." She added, her smile wavering as she thought about her life, wishing someone had stood up for her. If only once. The caring girl smiled thankfully.
"Thanks for not immediately hating me." She said appreciatingly, then held out her hand. "My name's Fiona."
"No problem. People call me Ashlynn." The short haired girl responded taking Fiona's hand for a handshake. The two girls smiled.
"I'm Ashley." An overly cheery, slightly loud voice said, shocking the two taller girls, making everyone laugh. In this moment the three girls knew they'd be inseparable. "Well, by your guys' items, I think it's pretty clear we're all going to the same place." Ashley stated looking at the two, smiling since they'd stay together.
"Hogwarts?" Fiona asks to the others. They smiled and nodded. The three hugged happily. The moment, however, was cut short when  Ashlynn checked her watch again. They only had two minutes and they hadn't even gotten to their platform yet.
"Guys! We have 'litraly' two minutes left!" She exclaimed filling the two other girls with fear as well.
"We've got to get to the platform!" Fiona stated to the others. She and Ashlynn then looked up, looking for their number. "Where's 9 and 3/4?!" She asked a loud desperately.
"All I see is 9 and 10!" Ashlynn wailed completely distraught. While the two continued to freak out, Ashley stood confused.
"We run between the pilar of 9 and 10." She said simply. The two gave her a look of disbelief. "You didn't know? I thought every witch and wizard knew that."
"Whatever, we don't have time. What do we have to do?" Fiona asked desperately.
"We grab our carts and run through the pilar to get to the train." The small girl explained as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. The taller girls stared as though she was crazy. "Well, that's what my mom told me."
"Is your mom on drugs?" The tallest girl replied snarkily with wide eyes. The girl tilted her head.
"What are drugs?" She asked innocently. Ashlynn and Fiona physically face palmed. "Just come on!" She begged, running to her cart. Even though the girls tried to stop her, Ashley ran to the pilar. The taller girls braced for her impact, but were shocked to see that she disappeared through. After looking to one another for any explanation, and finding none, Ashlynn shrugged.
"Screw it." She said simply, then grabbed her cart and charged though the seemingly solid bricks. Looking from her cart to what was meant to be the entrance to a great new adventure for her, Fiona was at a stand still. Ignoring her rational mind she grabbed her cart, braced herself, and ran.
