Chapter 1: Freedom to Be

Standing in the main hall of number 12, Grimmauld Place one afternoon, Harry Potter was packed and ready to go off to America with his twin sister Ariel. It had been an exciting, eventful, and painful year since he opened the door of the Dursley's home on his birthday last summer; a home he was grateful he never had to return too.

He was now 17 going on 40. Harry was of legal age in the wizarding world, and even if he wasn't, there wasn't a witch or wizard in his world that would treat him like a child. He had experienced more things many adults of his world haven't since the tender age of one. The boy with the scar had survived the wrath of the darkest wizard in a century, Lord Voldemort. Harry helped this evil wizard, that had killed his parents, inadvertently separating him from his twin sister, and haunted his mind since he was first told about him at age 11, meet his inevitable, and truly final end...Harry hoped.

Harry had lost people he loved, and watched others die at the hands of this evil wizard and his followers. It had only been 3 weeks ago since Voldemort had lost his life, ending his torment of Britain's wizarding society. And although he met his end at Harry's hands, Harry felt nothing but a tremendous freedom throughout his mind and body. Nothing could damper his spirits, and he no intentions of looking back at what had happened in the Chamber of Secrets. Harry had love all around, always around him, and that's all he wanted to revel in. He may not have a girlfriend at the moment, his heart was in a surprising tug-o-war between 2 girls, but that decision was his only serious problem, and he was taking his time in making it. All he wanted to do now was be a 17 year old young man, whatever that meant he wasn't sure, but he eager to find out.

But now Harry stood in the main hall of his late godfather's house, waiting for the greatest birthday present he had ever received to come down the stairs. "EVANS! WILL YOU HURRY UP? WE'LL BE LATE FOR MERLIN'S SAKE!" Harry bellowed up the stairs. Ariel was the only thing that had made Harry smile after the death of his former Headmaster and greatest friend, Albus Dumbledore. Harry didn't think it would have been possible to so much as laugh again considering what he had in store for himself after Dumbledore's death, but Ariel not only forced him to smile, give him the joy of love only a family member could give, and helped him defeat Voldemort, she had given him a reason to live. Ariel had eyes that matched Harry's, but before she walked through the Dursley's door, she had only seen visions of what Harry had been through. Now, those eyes had witnessed first hand the tragedy, heart ache and pain Harry had experienced. She had walked away from the final battle at Hogwarts with very few bruises unlike Harry, but Harry knew that the scars he had on the outside, were nothing compared to what his sister now had on the inside. He often found her crying silent tears on her own. Occasionally, he'd wake up to find her next to him even on the nights with out thunderstorms. She was grieving and hurting, although publicly she was hard press to show it.
