lilla sat alone. as she always had, as she always would. she sat on the sidewalk in front of her house staring up to the sky. the stars above had always been more of a home to her, not the house she sat in front of and definitely not the strangers inside.

now they weren't really strangers she had know these people her whole life but sometimes she felt like she had never met them. she felt like they didn't know her, but she didn't even know herself.

she broke her gaze from the sky to look at the houses that were homes to someone. to her they were an empty shell of existence. her eyes flickered house to house
slowly taking in what she had already seen millions of times before. her eyes flickered to the boys house, right next to her own. both windows perfectly aligned to look into each others.

the boy, she had known as isa, a peculiar name for a peculiar boy. lilla has never spoken to the boy because she was frightened of him, frightened of the feelings she had felt towards him since grade six. isa had tried to speak with her but he was just as frightened of her as she was him. of course neither of them knew this.
