"Come on, Ember. Please?"
"Hold on. I can't hear you."
My neighbor was vacuuming for the third time this afternoon. Then again what do you expect in an apartment building?
"Okay what were you saying, Constance?" I asked. Constance ,my friend since seventh grade, was always asking me favors. Its not that I mind helping her. She just...has her own way of thinking and doing things.
"I was asking if you wanted to go on a double date with me?"
"With Jeremy?"
"No, we didn't work out. It's with Jared. Remember him from high school?"
I did. He was basically her best friend. Everyone thought they were dating, so they would be glad to know they were a thing know.
"Who would I be going with? And where are we going, anyway?" I asked as I subconsciously looked through my closet.
"We're going to a party."
"What kind of party?" I countered while holding up a top to see if it even still fits (it didn't).
"A house party. As for who your going with..." She trailed off.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked, worried.
"Do you remember Ashton?"
I did. He went to my elementary and middle school. I hadn't seen him in ten years, though. Has he changed a lot? I wonder.
"Yeah."
"So your okay with this?" Constance asked.
"Yeah. When should I be ready by?"
"Say...six?"
"Perfect."
"Kay! I'll pick you up then. Bye."
"Bye." I hung up.
Wow, I thought. This ought to be interesting...
