In this the 15th century, may things have occurred. King Matthew and Queen Miriam had a marvelous wedding. A wedding and a marriage that joined the Houses of Chattanham and Rothershire, the two most powerful Houses in the land together. The King and Queen were greatly adored by their people.
They waited anxiously for an heir to be born. It seemed as though that were not to happen. Many even suggested that the King impregnate one of the staff since the Queen could not carry a child to term. The King, being the man that he was never thought of that. With all his hopes and prayers and forcing the Queen to do nothing, she gave birth to a beautiful daughter at the age of forty-three. It was on heard of that a woman of her age would bring forth a child. But nevertheless the British people were elated at the news. Though they know the old saying of an heir and a spare would never be true, they were happy with the birth of Princess Hilary.
Even after the birth of the Princess the Queen never went back to being the woman she once was. She became weaker and weaker. Eventually she passed. That was a sad day in the eyes of the people. They had lost their ray of sunshine, but she had left a beam of hope. Not even a decade and a half has passed before the King that the British people loved so much died after a battle with a mysterious disease.
King Matthew of the House of Chattanham and Queen Miriam of the House of Rothershire left Princess Hilary an entire kingdom to rule at the tender age of twelve. She was gingerly assisted by her Uncle the Duke of Rothershire who dare not violate the Will that was left by the late King.
There was a very important section in the Will:
"...Should anything befall me before I willingly step down from the throne, let it be known that my only daughter and true heir to the throne Princess Hilary of the House of Enthanshire should rule the British Empire with my dear younger brother of the later Queen Miriam, Duke Charles of the House of Rothershire. Let I also be know that she marry Duke Lennox of the house of Lintinshire, and have a child that will be the next ruler of the British Empire. I hearby denounce that the rule of the Empire shall go to a male heir, rather, the rule shall fall on the first born off spring, be it female or male. Any other children brought forth will be Dukes and Duchesses of their own rights in their own Houses. THIS I LEAVE AS MY LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT.
KING MATTHEW of the HOUSE OF CHATTAMHAM"
And with those words, Queen Hilary of the House of Enthanshire came to be. With all that surrounded her rise to the throne at such a young age, her imprudent marriage to Duke Lennox, who she knew nothing about, all in a time that was ruled by men. Did anyone know what spun in her mind while everything took place around her? If walls could utter words of truth...
