Stauren (Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan)

Neighbors:

Lauren Cohan had just moved into a new apartment building in LA. She was excited for the fresh start and excited to meet her neighbors. A lot of them acted like hermits and never really wanted to talk, the only one she could get a few words out of was her shy and cute neighbor Steven. They had only spoken a few times but she already liked him, he was super helpful and spoke in a soft voice. She was content with her new life and hoped to grow close to Steven.

CRACK

BOOM

Lauren shook under her sheets, she had always been afraid of thunderstorms since she was a little girl. This time her parents weren't here to comfort her, she shrieked as another loud boom filled her apartment. She had to get out of here and fast.

Lauren jumped up from her covers and fell down as lighting flashed outside her window. She thought LA never had storms this huge! She threw on her slippers and a hoodie and ran outside of her apartment locking it behind her. Thunder roared above making her shake in her shoes. She immediately knocked on apartment number 103. A disheveled Steven flung open the door a couple minutes later.

"Lauren?" He asked tiredly, rubbing his eyes. She hadn't realized how late it was, she thought about running back to her apartment and crying herself to sleep. The thunder boomed again making her jump. She couldn't just say that the storm was scaring her, Steven saw her nervous demeanor and his eyes went soft.

"Hi Steve, I just don't feel safe in-" The thunder boomed again and she squealed. He watched her in amusement realizing the cause of her panic.

"You wouldn't be afraid of a little thunder would you?" He asked and she shook her head.

"No, no! I saw something outside of my window and I just don't feel safe. Can I please stay here?" She asked, Steven ran a hand through his hair thoughtfully.

He barely knew her, what if she tried to kill him or something?

"Alright Lauren but just for-" She pushed past him as another wave of loud thunder loomed overhead.

"Thank you," She replied quietly.

"Do you want something to drink?" He asked, closing his front door and locking it.

"Um, do you have tea?" She asked and he nodded.

"I'll make some," He said shuffling into the kitchen.

"Thank you!" Lauren called out. She looked around his apartment, everything was clean and in all dark colors. Everything but his desk which was filled with colored papers and pens that were scattered around. His couch was black and soft looking, she went to sit on it and lightning flash outside the window making her stop dead in her tracks. She tried to calm her ragged breathing and glanced over to where Steven was. He was standing in the kitchen, looking at two different boxes in his hands. He glanced from one to another and licked his lips, he chose the box in the right hand and put the other back into the cabinet. Lauren sat down on her couch and sunk deep into it, Steven shuffled over to the couch and flopped down beside her, almost uncomfortably close. He looked over at her and gave her a small, shy yet warm grin. She smiled back and he grabbed the remote.

"Do-do you wanna watch TV?" He asked nervously.

"Sure Steve," Lauren replied running a hand through her tangled hair. He clicked on the TV and flipped through channels, there weren't many good programs on at three am. She shivered when flashes of light went off behind her. Steven shifted closer to comfort her but never touched her. He looked over into the kitchen and dropped the remote into her lap.

"Tea's done," He said getting up, he looked exhausted and Lauren felt incredibly rude. She flipped through some more channels and found a nature one about Bears. She clicked it and pretended to intently watch it. An overly British man narrated it and she couldn't help but laugh at his accent. It made her miss home. Thunder boomed behind her and she jumped in her seat, letting out a small yelp. Soon a warm mug was thrust into her face, she smelled the herbs and took the drink thankfully.

"Thank you, smells good," She said taking a sip, it was good and the perfect temperature.

"Sure," Steven replied. "It's a brew that helps relieve anxiety and helps you sleep."

"I guess I do need that," Lauren laughed and Steven smiled at her.

"Maybe just a little," He said biting his lower lip. She had always found Steven cute but in that moment he was incredibly sexy to her. She pushed down her inappropriate feelings and continued to watch the screen. Steven shifted closer to her, she could feel the heat from his body. Then his thigh was pressed up against her, he threw is muscular arm over the back of the couch so he could be closer to her without actually touching her. "Is this alright?" He asked.

"Y-yes," Lauren replied and Steven smiled. He had thought she was gorgeous from the very first day he met her. He was always so shy and struggled talking to women he found attractive, he felt dumb and inappropriate shoving himself close to her like that but he felt like it was something he had to do.

They both could feel the effects of the sleepy time tea and their eye lids began drooping. The bears catching salmon on screen were beginning to blur.

"I'm getting really tired," Lauren confessed in a scratchy voice, Steven yawned and nodded.

"Me too," He said, his voice deep and husky. Lauren found it to be a huge turn on, she would love waking up to that voice every morning. She shook her head and Steven's arm was then pressed against her shoulders, his hand cupped around her arm. She smiled at him and he looked at her wearily, his eyes fluttering open and closed. Lauren put her head into his chest and heard his strong heartbeat and felt the even rise and fall of his chest. Soon a small snore came from Steven. Lauren sighed contently and secretly thanked God for her fear of thunderstorms. She closed her eyes and fell asleep soon after.
