Chapter 25
Loren's POV
I hardly got to ask what's wrong before she dropped the phone and was running down the street.
I ran after her, trying to catch up, but I forgot her change. She's gotten more faster since the change. If it was up to me, I would have shape shifted by now. It would be faster!
When we reached the house, there was smoke coming from her room. When she saw that, I heard her yell, "Oh, God!" and she picked up speed. Damn, how fast can she go? She busted through the door, and we both immediately started coughing. "Call 911, for God's sake! Don't just wait for me!" she yelled at her parents. Mel, Darren and R. Jay ran outside coughing and breathing hard. Pepsi cowered by the door with his tail in between his legs and his head down, tongue rolling out. She ran upstairs, already coughing.
I covered my mouth with my sleeve and ran after her. "Vincent! Vinny where are you?! Say something! Anything!" Tears streaming down her face as she yelled from outside the fire. She was about to run in there, but I grabbed her by her waist and tugged her to the side.
"Stay here!" I yelled.
I ran in there, and my senses told me to go under the bed. I looked and sure enough Vinny was under there flat as a door, eyes closed and mouth slightly open. "C'mon little guy," I grunted as I picked him up, dodging the fire and taking him all the way outside. The fire was coming out of her room and was now in the living room also.
I set him in the grass. "Vincent, please open your eyes! Say something!" Ady brushed his hair out of his eyes. "He isn't breathing!" She pushed at his chest to try and pump air, but I don't think it was working.
"Ady..." I whispered.
"Vinny, please, Vinny... wake up." Tears were streaming down her face now, some dripping into the grass.
"Ady. Come on," I whisper again.
"Please...." she whispered again.
I moved her hands and pressed my ear to Vinny's chest. I sat up, slightly frowning and turning to Ady. "There is no heartbeat, Ady."
