The Mermaids Biggest Secret

When i was younger my mom used to tell me stories about mythical creatures like werewolves but most of the time they were about mermaids. I loved just listening about all the different adventures, different ones every night. But the thing is, is that she never read the stories from a book she just told me them making it up one the spot (or so i thought). They were so detailed and intricate you could easily imagine what the characters and the surroundings looked like. She used the same characters in every story.

****** Hayleys POV ******

Hi my name is Hayley, my mum says my name means 'hay meadow' and that it is of the Old English origin. Which is actually really funny as i love nature, i always have. I am sixteen years old, i have long blonde hair and i have eyes that change colour yeah cool right? I wouldnt say i was tall but then i wouldnt say i was really small either but in the middle.

I live in california on a patch of land with a private beach that my ancestors bought a long long time ago. All my family live here. My ancestors bought the so that the family could stay together to keep the secret safe (i still dont know what the sercet is..) Anyways i live with my mom and my sister. My grand parents and auntie and uncle live in different houses but we are still on the same patch of land.

You might me wondering where my father is right? Well my father died before i was 2,my mum doesnt really talk about it but all i know is that he died a honourable death in battle.

All my faimilies names have meanings, il start with my mums name, its Karen it means 'pure, chaste' which suits he so well. My sister is called Kalel it means 'eveything, friend of God' even though our family dont believe in God. my auntie is my mums sister and her name is Alison 'noble' my uncle Robert 'bright fame' my three cousins Paige 'young servant', Luna 'water and moon' and chloe 'young green shoot, blooming' my grandad Colin 'young creature' and my grandma Rita 'pearl'.

I am the oldest out of the family siblings. People say that Kalel looks like my twin but she is a year younger than me. All the females in my family have blonde hair ( except my grandma her is now white) but the males can be any colour.

As i said we have a private beach, Kalel, my best friend and i spend most of our free time either in the sea or on the beach. I dont know why but i just seem to have a pull to it. Iv got to admit the waves are amazing herewhat more could a girl want when she love surfing!

I go to a plain boring school where nothing exciting ever goes down.. I dont really fit in with anyone i just a one friend, my best friend nicole she is amazing and loves the sea as much as i do! She has blonde hair slightly darker than mine and has hazel brown eyes. She practically lives round a my house we are that close.
