It was a cool night in the little town in Michigan. Nothing could prepare Kristen for this. She was feeling contractions left and right, but nobody was there for her.
Nobody.
She laid down on the bed screaming in pain. She looks to her left and see the phone hooked to the wall and tries her hardest to get to get up. She leans all her weight onto her elbows, then her hands, until she was finally sitting up. She turns her body so her feet were touching the floor.
She has to hurry before her next contraction hits, but they are getting closer and closer by the minute.
She slowly gets to her feet and hurries to the phone. When she reaches the phone, she falls to the floor in agonizing pain. With phone in hand she quickly dials 9-1-1 trying to push through this contraction so she can talk to the operator on the other end.
"9-1-1 what's your eme-"
"Help, please. I am in labor and I don't know what to do." She pleaded.
"Okay, I need you to stay as calm as you can. Do you know how far your contractions are?" The man on the other end asks.
"Every 2 to 3 minutes. Please hur-" she screams in pain and the man on the other end tries to calm her down and track her phone call.
"Okay an ambulance is on their way to your location. What apartment number are you in?"
"25. Apartment 25." She breathes, sweat dripping from her forehead and onto the floor.
"Okay, are you lying down?" He asks and she shook her header even though the man couldn't see her.
She grunts and leans her back up against the wall and rubs her swollen belly.
"It's gonna be okay, you'll be okay. I promise, baby girl. You'll be okay." She mumbles with any strength she could conjure up. She continues to rub her belly while the man on the phone helps her with breathing excersises.
She suddenly feels a sharp pain shoot up her back. She scream so hard she dropped the phone causing the call to end.
She didn't know what to do. She was all alone. Alone and scared.
She bowed her head and closed her eyes, a thing she learned in Sunday school when she was little. When she closed her eyes, tears fell to the floor making a very faint splash sound.
"Please, Lord. Please help me. You're all I got now. I need you. Please send help. Please." She cries with tears streaming out of her eyes. She lays her head against the wall crying when suddenly a shot of pain interrupted she tears.
"Oh my go- she coming." She cried and pushed, because she didn't know what else to do.
She pushed and pushed, but nothing happened.
"Maybe I'm not pushing hard enough..." She questioned and pushed harder.
"Yep, oh man that's it." She breathed and let out another push.
