Midnight (Book One)

Chapter 17~Karla

(Karla's P.O.V)

I agreed to help this boy Spade find his friend Jezebel. Why I agreed to do such a task for someone I don't know? Maybe it was because I felt sorry for him or maybe it was because he seemed desperate but whatever the case was I was hoping I made the right choice.

"Master are you okay?" Jamie sits next to me on the sofa.

"Yeah I'm fine. Why don't you go wake our guest?" Jamie nods his head then heads upstairs. I get up and go in the kitchen to pour me a glass of blood in a wine glass. After I pour myself a glass I pour Spade a glass of water then head back in the living room and sit back down.

"Good morning." Spade greets me with a smile.

Spade sits down next to me while Jamie sits on the other side. "Hello are you ready to get started." He nods his head.

"So how exactly this work?"

"Do have anything of hers?"

"No."

I shake my head. "Spade in order for me to scry I need something that was near and dear to her something she wore everyday or used very often."

"Well maybe we could go back to the place where she was taken." Spade suggested.

I stand up. "Alright fine. Jamie we'll be back soon okay." I give Jamie a kiss on the cheek then snatch my dark red trench coat of the hanger and head to my car. "By all means Spade move at glacier pace you know how that thrills me!" I get in the passengers side and slam the door.

Spade enters the drivers seat. "Jeez sorry I didn't know you need something personal of hers."

"Of course you didn't." I hiss. "You newborns know nothing about our world." I sigh then look out the window at the leaves blowing in the wind. The rest of our car ride was silent.

"Ummm Karla what kind of music do you like?"

I look over a Spade and roll my eyes. "I honestly don't care what you want to listen to." Spade nods his head and turns on my radio. An hour later we arrived at the place where him and his female friend stayed.

"Here we are." Spade turns the engine off and we exit the car. I observe the distasteful house.

"This...This hideous place is where you stayed?" He nods his head and enters the building I follow behind him.

"So what exactly am I looking for?"

"Something that was very important to her." I lean against the wall. Spade starts to look on the floor,under what little furniture there, and in the other rooms.

"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help me?"

"Nope I'm just going to make sure everything goes okay." I spread my cape on the floor then sit down and file my nails.

"Karla I found something that I think you can use!" Spade says happily.

Spade sits down next to me. "Let me see it," He hands me the needle. "This is her insulin...is she a diabetic?"

He shrugs. "If she is I didn't know but wouldn't that mean that she would get sick if she didn't take this?"

"Vampires venom can help stabilize a diabetics sugar level," I tell him. "But that's beside the point I should be able to scry with this." I take the needle and put it in my messenger bag then we head to my car and go back to my mansion. When we enter my house Jamie runs and greets Spade and I. We sit down on my couch, I pull out a map then tie the insulin to the hanging end of the string. I slowly let it twirl around until it stops and lands downtown. "That's impossible she can't be there." Spade moves closer and marks where the insulin landed.

"Karla why is that so impossible?"

"Because that building was demolished two years ago not unless...they have a shadow on their hideout then this would be the closet we could get to finding her."

"So why don't we go and look?"

"Because something doesn't feel right I want you to go to bed while I continue to scry using several different maps." I sigh then pull out my books of maps.

"Ummm alright see you in the morning." I nod my head then Spade goes upstairs to his bedroom.
