20. Forgettable promise

Se Young's POV

2 months later

I sat on the passenger seat, beside Jungkook, who's the driver. We did talk nothing. Well... Guess what? We went back to the situation, giving cold shoulder to each other. We aren't close anymore. We didn't give a single smile to each other nor talk. But we do talk, if it's necessary. Great, right?

"You don't need to pick me up, because I have meeting at evening. Ms. Lee will send me back home", I said, before getting off from the car. "Okay", he replied shortly and drove off. I sighed and went into the company

*Flashback*

"Se Young-a", Mrs.Jeon called my name while putting my hand between hers.

"Neh?", I held her hand back

"Please take care of our Jungkook. And, as you see, we do not get along with each other. He hate us because of Jung Ah's death. I know we were wrong but I want the happy family back which we used to be like. I believe you can help us, daughter. Please, help Jungkook and us to forget all the things and start a new family life", she cried

*Another Flashback*

"Yah! What are you trying to do?", he shouted. "What do you mean?", "Don't pretend like you don't know all of these. Why did you invite them?", he asked

"They are not strangers. They're your parents. Do you see any fault by inviting them to have dinner with us?", I said, a bit terrified by his anger. "You did know he would ask me to work in his company, right? Did he request you to bring me to them?"

"Do you think I could reject his request? And, it's not a big deal that he asked you to work in his company, Jungkook. Why are you overacting?", I pointed out my thought

"Do you see this as a small thing, huh? Because I hate his damn company! I hate how he only knows about his company! I hate I would become a person like him!! I hate everything that's concerning with his work!!! Enough? So,back off and don't try to interfere between us", he shouted while pushing me with a great force, causing me to end on the floor

*Flashback ends*

That's how it happen. The reasons which caused me and Jungkook's situation to be icy cold

I went back to reality when I heard a knock on the door. "Come in", I said. The door opened, revealing Jae Seok. "Good afternoon", he said. "Well... Good Afternoon, Jae Seok-a", I smiled weakly

"This is the report about the project between us and the Starlight company" (A.N which is Jungkook's dad)

"Okay.... Leave there. I'll take a look later", I said. "Have you had your lunch?", he said. "Nah... Not yet. I've been busy about the report for the meeting at evening", I answered

"You know... It's already 2pm. You might hurt your stomach if you don't eat now. I also haven't had my lunch. Let's eat together", he said. "Okay, but I need to finish my report so you can go to the canteen first. I'll come after 10 minutes" I smiled at him

He nodded, gave a small smile and left. He's back to the normal after the wedding. We would have lunch together and sometimes attend the meeting together. He's a great colleague like my dad said. I can rely on him if something bad happen in the company

*Fast Forward*

I waited for the bus after the meeting. Ms. Lee? Well.. She's my driver but she's more like mom's. I often send her to mom if I don't have anywhere to go. I don't want mom to ride the bus or taxi. It's a bit inconvenient for her

Suddenly, a car stopped in front of me. "Why are you here? Where's Ms. Lee?", he said. "Ms.Lee went to mom because she need to pick up mom from her friend's house. So, I send her to mom and ended up here", I said. "Get in. I'll send you home", he offered

"It's okay... The bus will be here in a few minutes", I said. "You know... It's a bit late and I don't want you to wait for the bus alone. So, come on", Jae Seok said. "Well... Since you insisted", I got into the car

"By the way, I am living in a new home. Not my parent's house", I said. "Is that so? Where do you live?", he asked. "Just a few block from my parents' house. I'll show you the way"

"How's your marriage life with Jungkook?", he asked. "Fine. It's going well", I gave him a small smile. "Are you sure?", "Of course. Why not?", I replied. "Since you are fine...", he muttered

"Thanks for sending me home. Will you come in and have some tea or coffee?", I offered. "No thanks. It's a bit late so I should get going", he said. "Okay. Good night. See you tomorrow", I gave him a smile. "Yeah... See ya", he drove off

I went into the house and saw Jungkook, sitting on the couch. I just ignored him and went straight to the stairs but his voice disturbed me. "Having Fun? Jae Seok is Ms. Lee?", he smirked. "What do you mean? Ms. Lee had to go somewhere so he sent me home", I answered

"But, I bet u had fun. Anyway, good night", he walked past me and went upstairs. I left dumbfounded by his words. I went into my room, lay on the bed resentfully

I looked at the ring which was worn on my ring finger, "The promise isn't kept. It looked like he doesn't even remember", I muttered
