She Took That Well

The next few days passed without fail, and Emma would not stop bothering me about her party.

It was constantly "So, have you decided yet?", or "You're coming to the party, right?" "Come on, it'll be fun," she pestered.

I knew how much she wanted me to come to this party. I also knew how relieved my parents would be to see me get out of the house after countless weekends spent at home. However, parties are certainly not my thing. The idea of underage drinking and sweaty bodies grinding against each other in the hopes of "getting lucky" just doesn't appeal to me. Take all that plus the awkward mess of a teenager that I am; that's a recipe for disaster.

I approached the lunch table that we sat at everyday, and prepared myself for the shitstorm that was Emma's guilt trip.

"Hey, guys," I said as I sat down by Emma, Calab, and Jess. They all greeted me with friendly smiles and a small wave.

"So.. about that party?" Emma asked.

Oh no, here we go.

"Yeah, umm.. about that. I just don't really see me going and having a good time. I feel like if I was to go, I'd be miserable, and I'd probably make a mess with something knowing how clumsy I am, and-"

"It's fine, Kali. Really. I honestly didn't have my hopes too high and I wasn't expecting you to go. I understand if you'd rather stay home."

"Are you sure?" I asked. It wasn't like her to take things lightly, no matter how small.

"Yeah, it's not that big of a deal. But all four of us do need to hang out sometime. I miss all the fun we used to have."

Damn, she took that well.

"Yeah, most definitely," I responded. "When are y'all free?"

We made plans to meet up the next Thursday after school at the local bakery. It sounds kinda lame, but the place has a kind of hippie-vibe that we all like. Plus their food is almost orgasmic. We always have a good time there and it's away from any trouble.

a/n this was short af but oh well
